Why would an eternal almighty God stoop down in the dirt and create a vastly inferior being, although a being that is a masterpiece of His creation?

The speculation is intriguing of course…as intriguing as there are those who speculate. There are various theories as to why God decided to create mankind. No one completely knows the mind of God…especially as far back as when mankind was created.

But God was led to create mankind because of the disobedience of one being already dwelling with God. So He decided to create beings to someday live with Him who would never rebel against Him. His plan begins in Genesis 1:

“Then God said, “Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness]; and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the cattle, and over the entire earth, and over everything that creeps and crawls on the earth.” So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them. And God blessed them [granting them certain authority] and said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subjugate it [putting it under your power]; and rule over (dominate) the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every living thing that moves upon the earth.” - Genesis 1:26-28

As we have the record, man and woman were created from the dust of the ground, and as we know, both were created initially to exist perhaps several hundred years, depending on various circumstances of their existence. This man and woman are known as Adam and Eve.

But the question still lingers…why?

The answer as to why is revealed in the Bible, and involves a rebellion in heaven.

The rebellion of Satan…the most powerful and exotic of all the heavenly beings other than God Himself, is cast out of heaven to the earth, and therefore he is responsible for all the evil on earth, and invisibly influences all of mankind for evil. This being became who we know as Satan. He rebelled against God, and therefore could not continue to be among the heavenly angels.

This having occurred, God created beings on earth (man and woman) much like Himself, but not yet eternal like Himself, to replace the fallen angel who could not be allowed to remain in heaven. Hence, God decided to replace “Lucifer” (Satan) with beings who could be ultimately destroyed in a lake of fire if they refused to become loyal to God.

These are being molded in God’s likeness, ultimately to be given eternal life to become God’s children. These would replace the rebellious angels. They were not yet eternal, and can be destroyed if they are not being molded by the Holy Spirit.

The fallen angels (now called Demons), could then be used to test humans as they grew into beings to receive immortality like God Himself. They would then be God’s eternal children. If they refused God’s calling, they could be destroyed. Satan could not be destroyed; only restrained. These fallen angels (demons) are active on earth at this time, and their activity only contributes to the character development of those humans who submit to God’s forming them as His children by the power of the Holy Spirit.

This is referred to by Jesus: “The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” He said to them, “I watched Satan fall from heaven like [a flash of] lightning.” - Luke 10:17

But ever since Satan was tossed out of heaven, he has caused every imaginable evil by influencing mankind’s rebellion against God:

“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer (Satan) son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in your heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north…” Isaiah 14:12-13

“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” - Revelation 20:10

The Devil will be restrained forever and forever.…!

God is creating children to become eternal, and live with Him forever!! Are you allowing Him to change you so you can live forever with Him? Will you surrender your life now so God can finish His creation in you?

If you will, as I heard a minister tell his congregation many years ago concerning living forever, you can say:

"I have read the Book!.. and WE WIN!!”
