'Christ in You...'

God Inhabits The Ordinary
Date Posted: May 5, 2024

At times God may seem distant. It can be a very lonely feeling. At times, to the point of desperation. In these times, we long to reduce the distance, feel His closness again.

This can be caused by distractions, neglect, and the ever present business and demands of our human existence. We feel the need for closeness with Jesus Christ, and we sense that He is somehow far away. All of this would evaporate by believing and understanding that Jesus inhabits the ordinaries of life...the seconds, minutes, and hours of our seeming mundane activities.

Then there are those trials of our flesh. The times of sickness, pains, fearful forebodings, confusion of mind and heart. Not everyone responds the same way. And not everyone has the same trials. Many, as they grow older become discouraged, and threatened with uncertainties in their struggle to just keep on keeping on.

Satan can set us up for these things - by emphasizing this and that, sending false signals in the mind and body. He is intimately familiar with our minds and bodies. We observer his power to create pains. Pains of mind and of body, in the experience of Job. Satan is the real author of more negative elements in our lives than we know. Regarding the experience of Job, God used his life in a very special way to prove a point.

There are many lessons in the experience of the suffering of Job. Perhaps one of the most important ones is that we must not focus on our own understanding of events that occur in our lives. When we feel that we are doing all that is required in a life as a Christian, we can be led to believe that what occurs in our lives that seems painful and negative is somehow unfair. After all, we are doing all that can to obey Jesus Christ in our lives.

However, herein can lie a subtle trap of Satan's activity in our life. We can forget that, although Satan can provoke and promote negative feelings about what is happening in our life, God is in all, while Satan is in only part. Satan can influence events in the mundane of our live, but God is there also - in a much greater way! Even in small things (Zechariah 4:10).

Satan uses the "small things" to influence our outlook and moods, but the Holy Spirit is living in us. Satan can only attempt to influence us through these ordinary things in our life and body. The Holy Spirit dwells in us even in the smallest, seemingly insignificant things. He dwells in us and inhabits ALL of our life - even the ordinary, that we take for granted, but that subtly undermines our peace and even our faith over a period of time.

Regardless of what we feel, of what we wish we could feel as our lives drag on, Jesus is near. He is with us. Closer that any friend, in our off moments, our frustrations, boredom and loneliness. He inhabits all the extremes of our life - good, the bad, and even the ugly. God made the ordinary elements of life as well as the exciting, pleasant, joyful, and thrilling. You are never alone even in the most mundane and ordinary conditions in your life.

There is nothing we can experience - nowhere we can go - nothing we can feel or not feel, unless Jesus by the Holy Spirit is there. Even In the most ordinary things of your life.

Trust Him with them too.

"Where could I go from Your Spirit? Or where could I flee from Your presence? If I ascend up into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol (the place of the dead), behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning or dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there shall Your hand lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me." - Psalm 139:7-10 (AMP)

"He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] " - Hebrews 13:5 (AMP)
