God's Timetable
Date Posted: June 11, 2017

The book of Revelation reveals God’s timetable for the consummation of all things pertaining to His plan for humanity.

Beginning with the New Testament record and stretching forward to Jesus second coming. It reveals the ultimate destiny of the earth and at least much of the Universe and the future for all that He began. His timetable completes what He began in Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

It reveals God’s nature, patience, and also His condemnation of the natural human with Him, and what He must do to save some as expressed by the Apostle Paul regarding the spiritual condition of the Jews of his day, and…for you and me.

“There is a season (a time appointed) for everything and a time for every delight and event or purpose under heaven A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.” – Ecclesiastes 3:1-2.

This is shown by the Book of Revelation.

The beginning of the end was dictated to the Apostle John, and continues through the Book of Revelation. Some scholars believe that the letters to the seven churches in Revelation 2 are prophecies of seven conditions within the seven eras of the true church. Beginning with Revelation, the statement penned in Ecclesiastes above concerning the uprooting of what is planted, could refer to these churches, although planted, are “uprooted” by the second coming of Jesus Christ.

After Jesus’ letters to the seven church eras, the end of the world as the world’s inhabitants have known it, progressively become more and more in rebellion against God and Jesus Christ. God progressively increases the punishment of the earth’s inhabitants for their evil.

Some of the warnings of the events picturing God’s punishment of mankind’s rebellion can have a blood-curdling effect.

"When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed (frightened, troubled); these things must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. These things are the beginning of the birth pangs [the intolerable anguish and suffering]." - Mark 13:7-8

One wonders how long before these acts by God begin to register in a world that seems to be snowballing downhill to oblivion. Today, as never before, it is wise to watch world events. Watch while not fearing unnecessarily, but to consider our spiritual condition. It is always wise to remember Jesus’ statement to believers in Him that we should watch, so His warning will not be in vain.

Therefore, we must, always...always “watch”!

“But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time the thief was coming, he [would have been awake and alert, and] would not have allowed his house to be broken into. You too, be continually ready; because the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect.” - Luke 12:39-40
