How To Value Your Life
Date Posted: January 30, 2022

In a simple way, it is very easy for us to value our lives. We simply do not want to die.

There are some, however, for various reasons, who would prefer to die rather go on living in their present state. But in general, the law of self preservation that God created within us operates continually. He wants us to live so that we may eventually not need to struggle to preserve it, by giving our life over to Him now, because eventually we must loose it. But this law within us does not comprehend how much God loves us.

We are the apex of all His vast creation. He created mankind so that he would be temporary.
This was so that mankind could make a decision without coercion, and without having to have a gun put to his head, so to speak. He values freedom so much, and desired his human creation to voluntarily accept and receive the quality of life that He has and enjoys.

However, being just, there would also eventually be a just retribution for not accepting His purpose and desire to save all mankind. So, He created free choice along side of a penalty for not choosing that which is more valuable than anything that He created (John 12:25).

There have been many times when men and women have given up their lives for another person - perhaps millions of times. The one sacrificed for and the one who sacrificed did so in order that the protected one could live longer. But even so, it is only a temporary extension of life.

So, what would you give in exchange for your life, today, this moment? Since you do not know exactly how long you will live, it could be a tough call. Additionally, it could be influenced by what you have in your possession, that you could use to extend or delay making a decision about this inevitable decision all must make (Matthew 16:26).

Most of us would give anything and everything we have to save our lives. This is not wrong, even though it is shortsighted. You see, there is something that so far excels any value we could put on our lives that it is incomprehensible, unless we go to our maker's life-manual and examine how He feels about it all. And also see what He has already done about it.

If you really value your life, why not adopt the method that will guarantee it? It is offered to you by God Himself through Jesus Christ His Son. It is a "life back guarantee" from your Creator. He loves you SO MUCH, that He sacrificed His own life for yours, so that you could go on living even when you die. He is alive and well, and can never die again. If you must die, and we all must, let Him prove His love for you even more.

He will forgive and forget everything in your life - past, present and future - that has caused you sorrow, sadness, grief, guilt, fear of the future - and the fear of dying. But you must believe that you can live forever, just like Him, and trust Him. Could you really trust someone who did not trust you?

If you cannot decide whether to let your Creator give you the life that He made you for, please observe, remember, and even memorize this one thing He has said about your real value:

"For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life." - John 3:16.

Life has been called a journey. And so it is. Every journey has a beginning, a destination, and an end. Go to the One who can set you on a journey to a paradise beyond your wildest dreams. He died in the place of those who had never known Him. Because He loves them so. That's how much He loves you. But you must be willing to give your present life over to Him in order to preserve it (Matthew 16:24-25).

How much is your life worth to YOU?

Since Jesus Christ loves your life enough to suffer and die for you, should you not value your life enough to let Him save it permanently?

"He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation—he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ’s name.]" - John 3:18 (AMP)
