'Christ in You...'

"Is That All There Is?"
Date Posted: September 10, 2017

Many years ago a movie appeared in theaters entitled "Is That All There Is?" Music accompanied the film emphasizing the question as a series of events evolved that reflected the frustration and disappointment of the major character as he lived through a life of various successes and disappointments.

Sprinkled throughout the movie dialogue there is a moment of pause, and a voice asked "Is this all there is"?

The movie apparently intended to emphasis the utter futility of life as it is lived out in several different lives of the characters.

Have you felt that your life seems that way? Hopefully not all the time, but...often enough for you to feel down deep that much of your life is futile and pointless.

You have believed in Jesus Christ as your personal savior from eternal death, then what should you do?

"For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] [a]only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life. (1 John 3:16).

It is at this point that some enter a kind bondage. Yes, we are in a kind of bondservant relationship with Jesus...but not the type that is generally perceived. What is happening is a kind of contradiction in terms.

Actually, we now are in bondage to the freedom from condemnation, and transferred to the freedom of assurance. We live under the umbrella of grace while we are changed into a new entity.

So much so, that we can now cast all our cares - of any kind - upon Him. Jesus paid our ransom, now and forever.

And not only this, but more:

"Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time, casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully]." - 1 Peter 5:6-7

We have believed. We are imbued with eternal life. Our sins have been forgiven. Those of yesterday, today, and tomorrow is we remain connected to our Savior by th Holy Spirit that new dwells in us.

Now, what are we to do?

Shall we bask in the glory of Jesus Christ, praising Him and thanking Him for the assurance that now we are filled with Him as the Holy Spirit indwells us? Yes...we can now do all these things. All that the Holy Spirit leads us to do.

ALL THINGS now work together for our good!

"And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose." - Romans 8:28
