Our Changing World
Date Posted: September 24, 2017

There is a cliche I grew up with that has come to mind many times: “Things change!“

Now is one of those times.

Almost nothing stays the same. Sometimes by the hour. What is happening to “our world”? Can we understand at least some events that are rapidly occurring? At least an overview? The Bible says much, much more than that, if we will yield to the One who wrote it. Huge changes are about occur over the coming years. Some will occur so rapidly and in such magnitude many will be utterly confused and fearful of what is occurring in the world. This writer has written briefly over the past few years concerning some of them. Events enable us to be more specific because the initial stages of world events are developing at an increased speed. Many prophecies we can track almost daily as Biblical references come alive before our eye and on the news.

The basic Biblical revelations in a nutshell may be seen and correlated in five or six chapters. The key to greater understanding is first, know these chapters (not necessary to memorize them), and watch world news. It isn't’ necessary to set dates, as some have done in the past. Jesus simply shows the trend. In that way, we can realize when the end is getting closer. How close? Jesus said just prior to His ascension that only the Father knows the exact time of our times, and of the future.

From our world view today, there are three or four major world shaking events on the world scene that seem to be very close to occurring:

1.WORLDWIDE and national acceleration of turmoil and violence.

2.National amalgamation and forming of several nations under one control.

3.The movement more and more toward leadership of nations under one or two central or combined authorities.

World control equals world peace - a peace defined and dictated by a world dictator. Some of this will occur almost invisibly since it occurs very slowly, and often surreptitiously, and behind the scene of public news. Eventually, the world will realize that while it was preoccupying itself with pleasures and efforts to create local advantages, somewhere, far away and unnoticed, the world has been turn upside down while the world was at play.

Several years ago, I attempted to illustrate this as: Worldwide military authority; Worldwide military authority; and a worldwide religion. All of these three powers functioning under one all-power authority. The world would be “united”. But not as expected. Especially as we might anticipate today. Our world seems to be headed to perilous times indeed.

But thank God there is good news after the bad!

“And then I saw thrones, and sitting on them were those to whom judgment [that is, the authority to act as judges] was given. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had refused to worship the beast or his image, and had not accepted his mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5 The rest of the dead [the non-believers] did not come to life again until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired) and holy is the person who takes part in the first resurrection; over these the second death [which is eternal separation from God, the lake of fire] has no power or authority, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and they will reign with Him a thousand years.” - Revelation 20:4-6

Of course, prior to all these things coming to pass, all must live and endure a world in the process of drawing closer to the events listed above.

Yes, the world is changing. It is due to change more. In the meantime, are you drawing closer to Jesus each day?

He is our only hope for life now, and the life eternal.

“I assure you and most solemnly say to you, this generation [the people living when these signs and events begin] will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth [as now known] will pass away, but My words will not pass away. But of that [exact] day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son [in His humanity], but the Father alone.
“Be on guard and stay constantly alert; for you do not know when the appointed time will come. It is like a man away on a journey, who when he left home put his servants in charge, each with his particular task, and also ordered the doorkeeper to be continually alert. Therefore, be continually on the alert—for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning— [stay alert,] in case he should come suddenly and unexpectedly and find you asleep and unprepared. What I say to you I say to everyone, ‘Be on the alert [stay awake and be continually cautious] Watch! (AMP)!”
