Do you ever wonder about your relationship with Jesus Christ?

There are times when weaknesses may seem to undercut our assurance that we are saved, or that God is angry with us because of a perceived weakness. Being still human, we are susceptible to an array of influences in our lives that are broadcast satanic thoughts and feelings - all which depress and discourage us in our relationship with our loving Savior.

In a sense, all that Satan has to do is get us to doubt our salvation which influences our minds. Our minds are so constructed to absorb wrong influences as well as right influences.

There is an old gospel song that many of us have perhaps heard or heard of, written long ago concerning someone who did not doubt God.

The opening phrase begins: “Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh! What a foretaste of glory divine…!”

The writer seemed ecstatic because of his conviction that there was no more doubt concerning his salvation.

Doubt is a strong active, mostly subconscious enemy. Often Christians, especially new ones receive satanic impulses and thoughts that worry them concerning their relationship with God. Doubt is a very strong instrument of Satan in our world.

Unless we are active in prayer, and Bible reading, by which we are molded in mind and spirit, we can be influenced and provoked in a circumstance when our mind is unguarded. It is in this moment we may say the wrong thing, or do the wrong thing, and be amazed later that we could have spoken or conducted ourselves in an wrong and ungodly manner. Then, later, we realized we have been drawn into sin.

Then Jesus, through the action of the Holy Spirit, makes us aware of the sin we have succumbed to.

Then the Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin. Now, we can be overwhelmed with the realization that we could have done or said such a thing. If we are truly converted, and truly love Christ, and God the Father, our realization results in sincere sorrow, confession, and repentance toward God the Father, and Jesus our Savior. The Holy Spirit convicts, convinces, and comforts - if our repentance is real.

It is then that a most encouraging event recorded in the Bible can restore our comfort and peace with God and Jesus. Perhaps your sin is not the same as the sin quoted below; however, Jesus is no respecter of persons. He will say the same to you and me:

“Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women [to death]. So what do You say [to do with her—what is Your sentence]?” They said this to test Him, hoping that they would have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesus stooped down and began writing on the ground with His finger. However, when they persisted in questioning Him, He straightened up and said, “He who is without [any] sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”

Then He stooped down again and started writing on the ground. They listened [to His reply], and they began to go out one by one, starting with the oldest ones, until He was left alone, with the woman [standing there before Him] in the center of the court. Straightening up, Jesus said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” She answered, “No one, Lord!” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you either. Go. From now on sin no more.”] - John 8:5-11 (AMP)

Lets us confess, and repent, and strive not to sin, but repent and never doubt. Jesus will not condemn us.

Lets us go our way - and sin no more…
