Our Weakest Moment
Date Posted: February 26, 2017

Beware of the few moments just after you have had a good night's sleep!

Before you are fully awake there is a spiritual danger along with the physical rest. Have you ever been surprised or even shocked when realizing that your thoughts go far back in the past for a few moments just after you are fully awake?

Suddenly you are aware that your first thoughts involve some sin or embarrassment that you must resist or get up as fast as you can, and let the present day crowd our those wrong thoughts?

"Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof" - (Matthew 6:34)

During the few moments subsequent to a night's sleep, our mind is the most open (not blank) to receive thoughts that are deep in our subconscious that we are seldom aware of during the day. It is during these moments when the mind is refreshed that Satan often uses our relatively low mental defenses in impute bad thoughts and memories.

The mind is not completely defenseless, but relatively so. He imputes brief moments or instances from our past that involve past sins or failures that we ordinarily do not experience due to the activities of the day when we are focused on other requirements of our minds to deal with.

During those moments just described there can be a wide-open door for Satan to cause you to dwell on a wrong or sin from the past. If we do not consciously resist his efforts to dwell on that sin event, it only deepens into our subconscious. These thoughts or feelings can deepen and conflict with the effort of the Holy Spirit to protect your mind and spirit.

Set your mind instantly on something that resists the assaults of Satan on your mind or memory. You are promised that if you strongly resist his evil thoughts, he will flee from your mind. You have this as a promise. But you need to recognize what is occurring in your half-awake mind and instantly submit your mind to God and the Holy Spirit.

Then you can rise from your sleep, ready to hear the Holy Spirit as you begin your day...a day free from wrong thoughts, and service to Jesus according to His leading.

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you".- James 4:7
