Reaping And Sowing
Date Posted: January 31, 2016

Why is the world like it is?

Short answer: it is reaping what it has been sowing since the eating of the fruit of that tree.

The world in general, if we look at even a very brief outline of world history, we see strife, greed, envy, and wars and rumors of wars. Even without a publicized edition about war, it is there at almost any level of human existence. Known or unknown, in the lives of Christians and non-Christians. Why?

One short scripture written by the Apostle Paul says it all. Notice: “For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap.” (Galatians 6:7).

It is part of our carnal nature to apply this to small things in our lives. Unpleasant circumstances, mistakes in judgment, wrong moves we make and the wrong things we say. If we narrow the scope of this statement, we miss the all encompassing application of it. The truth that God has established is meant to apply to ALL things in life. The sins of mind, body sicknesses, mental and emotional afflictions - all afflictions of body, mind, and soul are often caused by that which has been sown in the past.

There are always consequences of some type for every action, every word, and even every thought. There is always some type of effect resulting from the cause. That which was reaped was caused by what was sown in some way at some time. There is no evading the automatic reaping of what was sown - sooner, or, later. God has established many automatic retributions for sin, including sinful thoughts, acts, attitudes. There is never an escape from the automatic retribution of sin. The “bottom line” is there is no escape - sooner or even much later - from the consequences of every word, action, and thought. What we sow, we eventually reap. Those who work in agricultural environments under understand the principle very well. If you sow it, that is what you get. If it isn’t destroyed (die) in some way first.

World leaders, those in authority, the man or woman at work, the masses of humanity do not understand the principle of consequences, and yet many suffer from it every day in every environment, every country, every household, and - you and me.

God has created a recompense. The delayed result deceives many, especially in high places. Time lapse withers believe in the principle. But it always catches up. Sooner…or later.

Would to God that the world understood this. But, Jesus has said there would be wars and rumors of wars until the end.

God does not need to send transgressors to a fiery hell immediately. If there is time, they will reap what they have sown if there is sufficient evil involved, and rejection of a Savior, The fiery pit will come later for many who reject a loving Savior’s deliverance.

For the Christian, the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin those who believe and follow Him. But Christians are not exempted from the law of reaping and sowing. They will be held accountable for not living their lives mindful of the law of cause and effect. They could have avoided much suffering by understanding it and living by it.

“ Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.) [He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.] For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap. For he who sows to his own flesh (lower nature, sensuality) will from the flesh reap decay and ruin and destruction, but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.” - Galatians 6:7-8
