Reaping As We Have Sown

America today...and Tomorrow??

Will there be spiritual revival in America?

Are we too far away from God and a from spiritual revival? Is there a way back into God's favor and protection? This judgment comes on nations and churches, when they forget God, and begin to depend upon their own wisdom and resources.

America, traditionally has been the bulwark of Christianity. But has it drifted too far from its moorings? Is there hope for America again? There comes a time for individuals and nations when God allows them to simply reap what has been sown. There is deep-seated undefinable uneasiness extant in society today. The only way to describe it is to admit that something is wrong in the nation. An incisive observation was made many years ago when America was on the edge of a crisis that could have brought the nation down as we had known it.

This very powerful and influence person publicly stated: "Only God can save America now...but I'm willing to try". It has been observed that in more ways than one, America has lost its moorings, abandoned its goodness, not to mention the righteousness of its God. It is natural and usually customary to solve national problems through elections, social reforms, industrial adjustments, government program changes, etc.

Eventually, this results in treating the effect, not the cause. Down through all of recorded history, God has allowed nations to suffer and to crumble because of two conditions that had developed; moral decay, and abandonment of their Creator. Everything else that happens are just parts flying away from the whole.

As this column has mentioned before, whatever happened to that embarrassing word called repentance?
Having followed many publications of churches, social organizations, and various other public media, this writer has yet to observer a firm affirmation and declaration of the need for the nation to repent of its sins, individually, governmentally, and especially religiously:

Repentance!

It has been a long time since this writer has seen the word in print. It seems to have been avoided like the plague by those institutions that should be the first to plead for it. Could it be that we have forgotten what it is? Political correctness has succeeded in burying the concept, whether by churches, education, government, and most other institutions. The reinstitution of the need for repentance must begin with those who traditionally have been the most familiar with it.

"The prayer that sparks revival begins long before the countryside seems to awaken from its slumber in sin. It starts when people fall on their knees and cry out to God. That's where true intimacy with God takes place and we begin the journey of being transformed into the image of Christ again as a nation. And as people are transformed, the course of the nation can be changed" - Author Unknown

Will there be national repentance before its too late?

"Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked [a]by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.) [He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.] For whatever a man sows, that and [b]that only is what he will reap." - Galatians 6:7
