'Christ in You...'

Why?

To a large extent this is caused by so many conflicting messages, doctrines, beliefs, etc., and the example set by nominal Christians. Many set bad examples in claiming to be living a Christian life without evidence of bearing the fruit of it.

Many non-Christians are simple weary of the maze while attempting to sort it all out. Often they see and hear only the tares. (They seem to make the most noise).

In situations such as this, God the Father will cause those who are called to His Son to be drawn to Him, regardless of the confusion. God knows who are to be His, regardless of the worst confusion. The Holy Spirit is not confused, and He also is not particularly concerned with numbers.

Numbers consciousness, although subtle, is often based on dollar signs and attendance statistics as a measure of success. Sometimes, the den of hearing so many "smooth things" drown out the legitimate call for repentance, belief, and faith. Clouding over all this is the aura of lukewarmness among professing Christianity.

Last, but not least, there is little genuine conviction of the heart due to our national sins that are glossed over and largely unnoticed, which is also the result of being drowned out by a conflicting information glut.

Remember the parable of the frog in the teapot who is comfortably unaware as the temperature is slowly increased until he suddenly realizes he has been cooked? So it is with spiritual lukewarmness.

And don't forget the Trojan horse...

"But understand this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear].

For people will be lovers of self and [utterly] self-centered, lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate [greedy] desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will be abusive (blasphemous, scoffing), disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane.

[They will be] without natural [human] affection (callous and inhuman), relentless (admitting of no truce or appeasement); [they will be] slanderers (false accusers, troublemakers), intemperate and loose in morals and conduct, uncontrolled and fierce, haters of good.

They will be] treacherous [betrayers], rash, [and] inflated with self-conceit. [They will be] lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of God. For [although] they hold a form of piety (true religion), they deny and reject and are strangers to the power of it [their conduct belies the genuineness of their profession].

Avoid [all] such people [turn away from them]." - 2 Timothy 3:3-5 (AMP)
