'Christ in You...'

Seeing And Knowing God
Date Posted: September 27, 2015

The story of Job and his friends shows the painful results of not trusting God, and jumping to personal conclusions that seem, at the time, to be very logical and accurate.

God eventually reveals Himself to Job, and his friends,.and none of them seemed to comprehended the awesome wonder of God. They did seem to learn that when all is said and done, they had only one right and righteous option: trust Him! Job's steadfastness refutes Satan's claim against him, but Job, not knowing of God and Satans's conversation, presumes a motive for his suffering.

Job presumed to be able to explain God's actions, but eventually realized that he could not fathom the greatness of God. (Job 42:1-6) Only God knows the "why" of our life events. All God does or does not do, is for our good, and His glory.

Although Job repented of not knowing how great God is, and came to "see" Him and His power and righteousness he still could not know the oneness with God that He has made possible through Jesus Christ. Now that His Son Jesus Christ has come to redeem us from our sins, we can now enter into a relationship that Job and his friends could not know.

Now, knowing God's Son fills an emptiness that could not be experienced during the days of Job.

Jesus does that which no one else can do. Now, we can truly KNOW God through the Father's Son. He produces within us a joy and close relationship that nothing else can fill. It passes understanding, because our hearts are taken up into the heart of Jesus, and His heart fills our heart. This results in an intimacy that was not available to those in the days of Job. The Holy Spirit had not as yet been given in the way that He came on the day of Pentecost many hundreds of years later.

Job could only view God through God's emphasis of His greatness. Now that Jesus has come, we can "see God" through our relationship with His Son by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Although Job was "righteous" in God's eyes in the letter, he could not "see" Him through the intimacy now provided by Jesus sacrifice, and the coming of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

We can now "see" God by the Holy Spirit through an additional dimension. Now we can know God through Jesus in a way that those of Job's day could only see through a veil. When God began to show Job His greatness, Job said that he could now see God in a different way. He could "see" Him by the overwhelming majesty and power, but not through Christ love and intimacy.

We as Christians can "see" God through Jesus Christ in an even greater way by the Holy Spirit. Not only do we see God through knowledge, but we see Him in the greater light of a mutual love relationship. Job saw God and defined Him by His greatness. Now God actually lives in us. His greatness is living in us now through the sacrifice of His Son.

We are not only seeing God better than Job, but now we are actually living in Him, and He in us. We experience His greatness, and His oneness and intimacy because now, unlike the days of Job, we can "see" God even better. Knowing Jesus Christ is in us fills an emptiness that nothing and no one else can fill. He produces in us, even more than Job, the surrendered heart that produces a love and joy that passes understanding as He lives in us.

What a glorious mystery!

The Son of the God of Job - is now living in us.

"...the mystery which has been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus" - Colossians 1:26-28
