'Christ in You...'

Special Calling

Is God calling you to a special purpose and activity for your life?

God prepares the heart of those He intends to call to receive eternal life, to believe in Jesus Christ, before they hear the call in other ways. This may take a long time, or it may be occur very quickly. It all depends upon God's choice for each one He will call.

Hopefully you have already surrendered your life unconditionally to Him. If you have not, it is time to do so. If you have, there may be additional events and experiences coming into your life ordained by Jesus Christ. If God is urging you, and in some way you feel compelled to yield to Him in a special way, you must examine your heart and make sure of your motive. Is it pride provoking you, or is it the Holy Spirit?

Consequently, are you experiencing a deep down conviction of something else He is doing in your mind and heart? It could be that He is beginning to lead you into something special for you to do by His grace and power. Is God calling you for a special service for you to enter into? It need not be dramatic, or large in scope or evident to others.

First make sure you truly know Jesus Christ. There is a terrible statement by Jesus concerning those who have misread their priorities:

"Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name and driven out demons in Your name and done many mighty works in Your name? And then I will say to them openly (publicly), I never knew you; depart from Me, you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands]." - Matthew 7:21-23 (AMP)

Closely look at your life, experiences, past and present. Do not consider or measure you education, financial status, or even your age. Has He placed a subtle urging or desire that just seems to not go away?

Prayer and the Word of God must determine for you the validity of the urge in you heart and mind. If this is true, and if it is from God, the call need not be dramatic or world shaking; but if it is from God, it can be world shaking for you, and perhaps for others. God may be calling you to genuine faith first, and belief in Jesus Christ if you have not done so. Be wary of pride and carnal ambition.

Many have misread pride for calling from God. Human ambition can be misread as a calling from God. This is the reason prayer is so important. If you have surrendered your life to Him, from now on He is in charge of your life and actions as long as you are committed to obeying, serving and loving Him with all your heart.

Perhaps He has saved you from eternal death until now, and now in addition, perhaps He has a job for you to do in His service. Consider very carefully, prayerfully:

"Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall." - 2 Peter 1:10.

If you have surrender everything about your life to Him, and if He is calling you for a service, allow Him to direct you in every aspect of your life. Let Him choose your way, and direct you onto the correct path. Ultimately, it is Jesus Christ who will thrust you into that for which He is calling you. For Him to use you, you must be close to, and totally yielded to Him.

Wait for Him...

If He is calling you for special service, He will eventually open the door.

"I know your [record of] works and what you are doing. See! I have set before you a door wide open which no one is able to shut; I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept My Word and guarded My message and have not renounced or denied My name." - Revelation 3:8 (AMP)
