Thankfulness For Protection
Date Posted: September 20, 2015

When we belong to Christ, we are promised protection - protection from events that could destroy us. God assigns an angel that is with us continually to protect and guard us from many different occurrences in our lives.

These events run the spectrum of protection from accidents, the evil intents of other people, and protection from human mistakes that we all are subject to, and from Satan's traps and tricks. There are many scriptures in the Bible that refer to physical protection for God's children while in the flesh. David praises God for the amazimg protection and deliverance from his enemies.

We find this in Psalm 91 especially. Promises of divine guidance and physical and spiritual protection are included in the Old and New Testament. In the New Testament the Holy Spirit often is involved in the Christian's life and affairs to guard and prompt when necessary the heirs of salvation to avoid many dangers. Most of these are unseen and unknown to the Christian.

However, sometimes it is very obvious that angels have intervened on our behalf. These interventions vary from provoking someone to do a certain action, receiving mentally an urging to do or not to do something. At other times, there may be a direct action to aid or prevent something about to occur in our lives. We may not realize that an angel has intervened until after the situation is over.

As Christians, let us thank God every morning, noon, and night for His protection by the angels that have been assigned to us just for that purpose; our protection. This protection covers the whole arena of our existence, including protection from evil spirits that Satan may send out way, and from events and even accidents that often occur in everyday life.

A personal experience if I may...

Some years ago, while traveling down a street in a small town, I noticed an automobile in my rearview mirror that seemed to be traveling extremely fast. I was traveling within the city limits, but this driver was coming upon me from behind very, very fast. Needing to turn left at that time, I slowed to enter the left lane.

Looking in the mirror again, the car behind me was upon me. I froze waiting for his impact from behind. However, in what seemed like a second, I glanced ahead. That car was in front - not behind - and I was in the left turn lane, but I had not made the turn. He was several hundred yards down the road.

Until this day I do not remember entering the left lane. I believe a guardian angel put my car and me in that left land so that the car missed me, staying in the same lane that I had been. It happened in what seemed like no more than a second. At the time, I could not believe he had missed me. It is a mystery to this day. To me, there is only one explanation: a guardian angel moved my car in a split second so the car behind could keep going in the same lane.

Memory block? Perhaps. Confusion concerning the whole event? Perhaps. But for me, it is a miracle.

There may be greater experiences than this in the future for those who love God, and are "called according to His purpose".

"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust! For [then] He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. [Then] He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you. Only a spectator shall you be [yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High] as you witness the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place, There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent. For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service]".- Psalm 91:1-11 (AMP)
