The love of money...not money per se, but the LOVE of money, and what it can do.

The love of money, and the possession of it, leads to power - power over others, and power over nations and peoples. If there is enough money involved, the power will follow eventually. Power over individuals, businesses, and nations.

Every level of every human existence is pervaded by money and/or the desire for it. If there is an avenue by which enough money can be obtained without threat of being discovered if it is illegal, the necessary effort will be made to obtained it by someone.

"But those who crave to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish (useless, godless) and hurtful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction and miserable perishing. For the love of money is a root of all evils; it is through this craving that some have been led astray and have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves through with many [a]acute [mental] pangs. But as for you, O man of God, flee from all these things; aim at and pursue righteousness (right standing with God and true goodness), godliness (which is the loving fear of God and being Christ like), faith, love, steadfastness (patience), and gentleness of heart." - 1 Timothy 5:9-11

Many years ago, an official from another country decided to come to America and try to discover the secret of America's growth, success and freedom. After an exhausting effort to probe every possible reason for America being the America it was then, he could find no single reason for America being what it was. However, he slowly discovered what he believed would eventually undermine that success, and bring America and it's freedoms in jeopardy.

He surmised that it would be a long time, but still, it was only a matter of time. America as it was then could not continue indefinitely. He came to the conclusion that eventually the people would realize that they could vote themselves benefits. This power of the American democracy at the ballot box would eventually be the end of the freedoms enabled by the ballot box. It was inevitable, he surmised. It was just a matter of time.

The end of America as it was - and still is - would follow sometime thereafter.

There would be other reasons co-existing with his observations, but his would set
the stage along with others - immorality, dishonesty, disbanding of the Christian principles upon which it was founded, etc. America would self destruct.

Was he right - or wrong?

The observer mentioned above, as far as is known. was not a Christian or even a religious person. - although he may have been. His observations, along with America's abandonment of Christian principles and morals, personal and national, has weakened us in many ways.

As one well known Christian leader has observed, unless there is a national repentance toward the God that made it great, judgement is only a matter of time.

How much time? Only God knows.

God is a God of long suffering, and very patient. But there is a limit to His patience. With each passing day, each news release concerning the sins of America, and more and more national difficulties, time could be short.

What does the perfect God of all things really desire from you, me, and all of America?

Repentance...!

"If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." - 2 Chronicles 7:13-14
