The Legacy Of Kenny
Date Posted: September 24, 2017

Kenney and I have something in common; we both have the same first name. But I never used it until I was in the Army. The Army insisted that I remember - and use it.

“Kenny” - was a good man.

What an incredible understatement! So much in five words!

What an honor to be known as a good man! I believe he was one of the hardest working men I have ever known. Of course, perhaps he absorbed himself in his work in order to help deal with his afflictions. But - regardless - he worked when he didn’t feel like it, honored his employer, and set an example for others in that way.

So much of the life that he did have was enabled by his mother - Doris. She cared for him above and beyond that which we can never know. Only she knows.

There was so much stress and sacrifice for both as they lived together, and Doris provided every need that she could! Talk about a “caregiver”!. But they helped and sacrificed for each other, over and over again…for many years. Kenny as the son, and Doris his mother, they were devoted to each other completely. Doris in her early 80’s, and Kenny in his early thirties.

I treasure having known Kenny, regardless of the level of familiarity we each experienced, Above all, let us remember him, as “a good man”. Not a perfect man,- but a good man! Doris continues on in memory of Kenny. And I treasure her friendship. And I shall always remember Kenny.

I will always remember and love the memory of Kenny and his mother Doris. She continues on, and we are close friends.

Because: he was a “good man” and she a good woman and mother.

May each of us strive to be known and remembered as a GOOD man or woman - as Kenny was. And as Doris still is…

There was only one perfect Man. Jesus speaks about those individuals who are considered as good men (or women): “And whoever welcomes a good man, just because he is a good man, will get a good man’s reward.” - Matthew 10:41

Kenny passed away a few days ago.
