'Christ in You...'

The Light
Date Posted: June 28, 2015

We all know what light is - it is a brightness that eliminates darkness. If it were not for light the world, the universe would be such utter darkness it would be indescribable.

Most of the world would rather be in the light rather than in the dark, no matter where they are. Light enables the function of almost all things. Including you and me. There is a light that illuminates even when it is present in the brightest of physical light. But the light of this world is darkness, and has always been until Jesus came and revealed the real light of truth.

Jesus Himself is the light that reveals all that is done in darkness. Most evil deeds, and thoughts, are done in darkness. They are hidden lest they be revealed by light. The darkness of the natural man hates the light because many of those thoughts and deeds are evil. This is the reason the world will not voluntarily come to the Light. God IS light - light so bright that no human can look on Him and live.

But God through Jesus Christ reveals the Light of God in a manner that can be seen and received by those willing to be taught and transformed by it. The most profound truth about Jesus Christ is the fact that He brought true light into the world. The light of God and Jesus Christ can only be "seen" by and through the love of God in Jesus.

If you are surrendered to God through Jesus, the love (light) of God can be seen in you via you words and actions which are the fruit of His love in you. "And so faith, hope, love abide [faith—conviction and belief respecting man’s relation to God and divine things; hope—joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation; love—true affection for God and man, growing out of God’s love for and in us], these three; but the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:13)

The most powerful witness that Christians can give to the world is the light of Jesus and His love that they manifest to those around them, although the world may still love the darkness. "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)

The best way - indeed the only way - to witness the truth of the gospel is by living a life of manifest "light" which is the love of Christ living in you..

The love of God in you is the light that others will see, even though they may not know where it comes from. But because of this light in you, they know somehow you are different. Some will be repelled, others will be drawn to you. They may not know it, but somehow they are drawn to you if their hearts are being drawn to Christ. By this they will know and see the light of Christ in you - even if they continue to live in their darkness.

"The [basis of the] judgment (indictment, the test by which men are judged, the ground for the sentence) lies in this: the Light has come into the world, and people have loved the darkness rather than and more than the Light, for their works (deeds) were evil." (John 3:19)

Your life may be the only way they will see Jesus when the light of God in Jesus Christ illumines through you those who are living in the darkness of the world. If you are light, they will see the gospel of Christ in you.

Some will believe.

In this way, the Christian witness of God's light through love becomes more powerful than words.

"In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men. And the Light shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it [put it out or absorbed it or appropriated it, and is unreceptive to it].
- John 1:4-5
