'Christ in You...'

The Mentors
Date Posted: February 28, 2016

Many strive to live their lives being a mentor, or having someone mentor them. We all should Mentor the greatest Mentor of all time: Jesus. Study the life of Jesus on earth. Mentor Him in every moment of your life. His example is always perfect, always with perfect love. And perfect understanding.

You can’t go wrong mentoring Perfection.

He has perfect understanding, knowledge, and above all perfect unbiased knowledge of you. He never sees you as being a lost cause. He always sees you as a winner. He sees you as already perfect without being perfect yet. That is perfect love. As you do, ponder His responses to unbelievers, but also His conduct and responses to believers, and to those who were just curious, and those who followed Him just to have something to do.

As you do this, if you are a Christian, overlay His responses to various situations similar to those you may experience each day. To do this, pray as you begin each day, and become familiar with His words and actions that you could apply to your experiences during the day. In order for you to accomplish this, you must be familiar with how He lived as a human being.

Of course your experiences will not be the same as those that occurred to Him as He walked the roads of His world and interacted with different people constantly. But as you live your life, you may be surprised at how much that He experienced with the people of His day is like today, only with different things, culture, etc. But remember, human nature has not changed. Only the cultural response has changed.

Certainly, Jesus has not changed. He is the same “yesterday, today, and forever”. This being so, He is walking at your side by the Holy Spirit every second, every breath you take of every day - and night. Actually If you are completely submitted to Him and are led by the Holy Spirit, there is nothing you think, or involved in mentally, that He is not aware of and involved in. If you will let Him!

If you will yield to Him completely, and allow Him to be involved in all that think, speak, and do. He knows what occurs to you every second of your life. And He loves you regardless of weaknesses, inabilities, mistakes, wrong thoughts, words, and actions. Regardless of what He may see in your life during the day, He knows your desire to become like Him. Your Mentor still loves you with perfect, unbiased love.

But what if you became (or already are) a mentor to someone else? Many times we are "mentors" of others without us knowing it. There may be someone who admires you, and considers you to be an example that they would like to be like. Regardless of their motive (never impute motives!), you may be impacting their life in some way. For the better, or the worse. They may consider you an example of the way a Christian life should be lived, that they deep down desire to live.

And you may never know until...until in the Kingdom when they inform you of your influence on their lives back there when both of you were humans. Somehow, they feel that if it were not for your influence on their life, they would not be there. Both of you had then been written in "the Lambs book of life". And they inform you that, if it were not for you, their name could have been erased.

You and your mentor can now praise your Mentor together - forever.

"As He was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He noticed two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, throwing a dragnet into the sea, for they were fishermen. And He said to them, Come [a]after Me [as disciples—letting Me be your Guide], follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men!" - Matthew 4:18-19
