'Christ in You...'

The Most Encouraging Scripture
Date Posted: July 29, 2018

In one the Apostle Paul’s letters there is a statement by which he begins to summarize what he had just written. He had begun with his treatise in Romans chapter 7.

Many times in this writer’s journey as a Christian, I have hurriedly turned to only one verse in his summing up of the Christian life, and the Christian’s destination. And this encouraging scripture is contained in less than one verse, actually only two words in one verse:

“Therefore there is now no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punishment] for those who are in Christ Jesus [who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior].” - Romans 8:1 (AMP)

I know I have sinned, and I know I have repented as best I know how, and I am forgiven. But upon reading this verse - (over and over many times,) there is something about this verse that reassures me that I am truly forgiven. I will never be condemned because of my sins. And not just one sin. There is NO CONDEMNATION ever for my SINS as long as I am believing in Jesus Christ. If I have not repented of a sin (known or unknown), this verse and the whole chapter will convict me and remind me. Then, with the help of Romans 8:1 assurance, I am encouraged to confess and turn from my sins, because I am believing in and "living in" Christ, and He is living in me.

If I have not repented of a known sin, this verse will encourage me to repent, because there is not only hope, but a promise that I will NEVER be condemned for my sin. because I am living "in Christ", and He is in me. I will NEVER be condemned, because the death and life of Jesus has blotted out my sin.

Countless times I cling to this promise - it is, at times, like I have been released from a prison, and set free again! Just by reading and BELIEVING this verse.

When you read the book of Romans, read verse one of chapter eight…then begin reading Romans 1, and finish reading to the beginning of chapter 8. Now, finish the book. If you believe in Jesus Christ as your savior, reading Romans 7-8 (with emphasis on Romans 8:1), your life will begin to have a peace that will carry you through your trials and disappointments of life. Romans 8, with a prayerful faith in verse 1, can set the stage for a new outlook on life. Christ can live in you...by your believing, Then the Holy Spirit which then begins to live in you, will lead you. With Christ, by the Holy Spirit, living in you, you can never be condemned.

You now have the promise of Romans 8:1 (along with chapter 7) to never be condemned …if.

...If you will believe.

“Therefore, there is now, no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punishment] for those who are in Christ Jesus [who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior]. For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For what the Law could not do [that is, overcome sin and remove its penalty, its power] being weakened by the flesh [man’s nature without the Holy Spirit], God did: He sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful man as an offering for sin. And He condemned sin in the flesh [subdued it and overcame it in the person of His own Son], so that the [righteous and just] requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us who do not live our lives in the ways of the flesh [guided by worldliness and our sinful nature], but [live our lives] in the ways of the Spirit [guided by His power]”- Romans 8:1-4
