The Return Of Jesus
Date Posted: November 12, 2017

Today there are many who believe that the return of Jesus will return is very near. We observe various unusual sign in the sky and even on the earth.

Although this is certainly possible, a statement by Jesus would seem to cause us to question any statement which would indicate He would come because or at the time of an event. Down the ages many have attempted to judge the time of Jesus’ return. But He did not, and he has not as of the time of this writing. The Bible also speaks of His return as “a thief in the night”. Notice His warning:

“Therefore, you [who follow Me] must also be ready; because the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not expect Him.” - Matthew 24:44 (AMP)

“But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” - Matthew 24:36

He seems to warn us that we will not expect Him to come when He does come. He also commanded His disciples to “Watch”!

“But He replied, ‘I assure you and most solemnly say to you, I do not know you [we have no relationship].’ 13Therefore, be on the alert [be prepared and ready], for you do not know the day nor the hour [when the Son of Man will come].” - “Matthew 25:12-14 (AMP)

I was once involved in a religious organization that believed tat Jesus would return. And as it turned our, it predicted that He would return many times…each time later than the last. New dates kept be set. When challenged about the scripture above, the reply was that this scripture does not say no one would know the week, or the month, or the year, etc. Many years, and months. And weeks have past. Still…He has not returned.

The key to the whole issue is Jesus’ statement to be on the alert, and be ready all the time for His return. By having this mindset, everything concerning His return becomes a non-issue. If we are always ready, we can be at peace with the assurance that we are ready. The timing of His return becomes a joyous hope and expectation. The timing is, and always has been according to the will of His Father.

Our responsibility is to wait. Be at peace. Always be close to Him. Always be ready.

If we are always ready, the time of His return can be left with our Father.

The last statements in the Bible we can whole heartedly agree with, join in agreement:

" I testify and warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book [its predictions, consolations, and admonitions]: if anyone adds [anything] to them, God will add to him the plagues (afflictions, calamities) which are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from or distorts the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away [from that one] his share from the tree of life and from the holy city (new Jerusalem), which are written in this book. He who testifies and affirms these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus (the Christ, the Messiah) be with all [the saints—all believers, those set apart for God]. Amen." - Revelation 22:18-21
