The Striving Of The Spirit
Date Posted: March 6, 2022

It all began back at the time when God destroyed everything living on the earth by the great flood.

That first world before the flood God ended, with only Enoch and Noah responding to the striving of the Spirit. He regretted making mankind in His image, and it broke His heart. Mankind had degenerated to the level of animals, torturing themselves by their own evil. The only way to deliver them was through their destruction (Genesis 6:7).

But He had decided to start over again with a new humanity.

Beginning with Noah and his family, saved by a ship built by Noah, God was still willing to strive with mankind again, to enable them to choose life - eternal life.

However, He said that He would not always strive with humanity to acknowledge Him and submit to His plan. There was to be no third time for mankind to turn to their Maker. As it turned out, the majority of the new mankind did not respond to their Maker. Thousands of years later, after the millennium, and the resurrection and judgment of all who had lived since the great flood, and after those who had been called and chosen down through the centuries since the destruction of mankind by the flood, God's striving with His special creation will permanently end (Revelation 20:7-15).

He will again destroy all of mankind that have not turned to Him for life and immortality, and save all those who have turned to His Son for eternal life. His grand design to bring all who will respond to the striving of the Holy Spirit as children into His eternal family will be accomplished. Then there will be a new heavens and new earth for them to enjoy forever with their Maker (Revelation 21:4-6). His Grand Design through Jesus Christ will be accomplished.

But God will destroy all of mankind a second - and the last - time (Zephaniah 1:15-18).

Some day the Spirit's striving will end. But, for now, He is still calling, convicting and convincing the world (John 16:7-11). The day of God's wrath will also be His time when He will redeem those who have believed in and been faithful to Him. They have responded to and surrendered to His yearnings, and the striving of the Holy Spirit.

You and I are living in that last chance time for us. Today is our day...

Is His Spirit striving with you today?

"Again He sets a definite day, [a new] Today, [and gives another opportunity of securing that rest] saying through David after so long a time in the words already quoted, Today, if you would hear His voice and when you hear it, do not harden your hearts." - Hebrews 4:7 (AMP)
