The Unseen Wars
Date Posted: June 5, 2022

There is a war going on in places we would perhaps least expect. The specter of war and conflict is so universal and so all encompassing, so close and also so far, so prevalent, so common as part of events that it is simply expected to always be. The phenomenon of conflict touches everything physical. And unrealized by most, there are and will be unseen spiritual wars.

There is constant warfare, struggles and strife within our bodies, in the seas, in the air, in the earth down deep, and in the dirt beneath our feet. Jesus promised that there would be wars and rumors of more wars. The Apostle Paul spoke of the groaning's of all of creation, mostly unheard, unnoticed, and taken for granted when they are heard or noticed. There is a universal curse on all of creation from the stars above to the earth under our feet. We are accustomed to it. It is all we have ever known.

We see the world someone has said, not as it is, but as we are. So it has been since the Garden of Eden.

For an example of this universal curse of wars, take the hidden curse on the earth itself. It is upon the dirt, under us, all vegetation, good and bad. There is a struggle about all things. A desperate struggle to survive, to continue. Take for instance the war in your flowerbed, your lawn, or your garden. Someone has described these struggles that endlessly, silently, rage beneath our feet. It has be described as the survival of the fittest. The ferociousness in the animal kingdoms, and many are hostile toward mankind. This was not so when Adam named them.

There is a similar war that rages within our bodies. There are "good guys and bad guys", each struggling for superiority. The results of this war is good health or bad health; life, or death. Man constantly seeks ways and means to hold back the bad guys as long as possible. Many times successfully, sometimes not.

If you think that wonderful smell of freshness that shows up after a summer rain is just nature's way of pleasing you, think again. It really is a jungle out there -- and there's warfare going on. That pleasant smell of your lawn after a rain shower, for instance, emanates from some pretty unpleasant chemicals produced in a microscopic world by soil-dwelling bacteria fighting for territory. More noticeable to humans in the increased humidity after a rain, the microbes send out poisonous blasts of gas to keep away competitors,

Another sweet smell of a humid summer day comes from shrubs that constantly send an odoriferous alcohol upward to spotlight the point where they're being attacked by caterpillars or other gnawing insects. The chemical message is aimed at wasps, to attract them to the munching crawlers that are their prey. More of the aroma of summer comes from flowers planted too closely together. Their roots send hydrogen cyanide into the soil to annihilate competing neighbors. Still another gas is sent out by rose bushes trying to counter attacking fungi.

In this, and in all creation, there is struggle. And, of course, mankind.

Everything is also running down. Even the universe is running it course. No matter how permanent something may seem, it will, eventually, run its course. And, so will mankind. But it does not need to be so for mankind. Jesus Christ interrupted the inevitable. He as stopped the certain destruction decreed by His Father. He became a curse for us, so the curse of Eden could be reversed.

Everything eventually runs down, or dies permanently. But mankind does not have to die permanently. You and I do not have to die; die forever that is. Rather, we can now live forever - if. If we believe in Jesus Christ who came to reverse the curse of Eden, and trust in Him. He is the only hope to be released from the universal curse.

The curse of universal war and death will finally be removed.

"For the creation eagerly waits for the revelation of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility – not willingly but because of God who subjected it – in hope that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of decay into the glorious freedom of God’s children. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers together until now. Not only this, but we ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we eagerly await our adoption, the redemption of our bodies." - Romans 8:19-23 (NET)
