Towers Of Babel
Date Posted: March 26, 2017

More and more we are beginning to hear demands that what the world needs to avoid world destruction is one world.

The scattering of world population recorded in Genesis 11 is beginning to repeat. And again, God must intervene. This time, the consequences will be much more dramatic and much more important in terms of the consequences.

All down through the ages since the tower of Babel was built, mankind has journeyed the whole world. By this time, there are people of every color, size, and language in the most remote location on the world... the extremes of North and South, to the deserts of every location on the earth.

Notice the first Tower:

"Now the whole earth [a]spoke one language and used the same words (vocabulary). And as people journeyed eastward, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and they settled there. They said one to another, “Come, let us make bricks and fire them thoroughly [in a kiln, to harden and strengthen them].” So they used brick for stone [as building material], and they used tar (bitumen, asphalt) for mortar. They said, “Come, let us build a city for ourselves, and a tower whose top will reach into the heavens, and let us make a [famous] name for ourselves, so that we will not be scattered [into separate groups] and be dispersed over the surface of the entire earth [as the Lord instructed].” Now the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. And the Lord said, “Behold, they are one [unified] people, and they all have the same language.

This is only the beginning of what they will do [in rebellion against Me], and now no evil thing they imagine they can do will be impossible for them. Come, let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) go down and there confuse and mix up their language, so that they will not understand one another’s speech.” So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the surface of the entire earth; and they stopped building the city. Therefore the name of the city was [b]Babel—because there the Lord confused the language of the entire earth; and from that place the Lord scattered and dispersed them over the surface of all the earth." - Genesis 11:1-9

Since the episode at Babel there has been a slow, almost imperceptible increase of populations all over the globe. Slowly, imperceptibly, the earth is being increasingly populated. Amalgamation of the races, which lends itself to confusion and resentment, jealousy, and envy of all ethnic groups, worldwide.

Finally, we hear rumblings about "overpopulation", and national "crowding". All of these developments have led to violence, and every imaginable evil, as well as mutual knowledge and progress of almost every category. With the increased knowledge comes increased concern about possible integration of the nations and cultures of the world into a "one world" society. Ostensibly, this is the only way to world peace.

The world is shrinking.

Is a unified world the avenue to genuine, lasting world peace? Perhaps not. Notice God's original plan:

"The God who created the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, because it is He who gives to all [people] life and breath and all things. And He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their lands and territories. This was so that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grasp for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us." - Acts 26-28
