If you are not a Christian, perhaps you want to be but can't. You want to repent and believe, and live forever when your life is over, but...somehow you just can't force yourself to repent of you sins and believe the Gospel.

I know a person who claims to want to believe the gospel desperately, but just can't believe. There are some in this world who have heard the Gospel ("good news - Grk.") about living forever after they die, but for some reason they say that they want to believe it, but they say also that they just can't believe. They struggle in mental agony, and are miserable, struggling to believe...to BELIEVE the gospel that they have heard.

Some have been haunted (pardon the word...) perhaps for years, knowing the gospel, knowing that they must believe, but...they simply cannot believe what Jesus said, no matter how hard they try. There is an answer to the deli. A wonderful, and relatively simple way to belief. It is so simple that almost no one thinks of it, perhaps because of its simplicity. Consider first Jesus' promise:

" For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life." (John 3:16)

Jesus does not elaborate about conditions here. He simply says whoever believes in Him.

Therefore, why not ASK HIM for repentance and belief?

If you know you do not or cannot repent and believe, ASK HIM FOR THEM. If you are honest and sincere, He will give them to you!

This is such an obvious next-thought, that it is amazing that it is seldom thought of. Some have thought God must GIVE repentance and belief FIRST - before they can receive it. Many scriptures in God's Word speak of coming to God through Jesus Christ to ask for all kinds of needs, and also our desires. He longs for us to come to Him with our needs, problems, and difficulties.

Certainly He will not turn His back on you when you ask Him to GIVE YOU what you NEED MOST; repentance and belief!

Most understand that we are to bring our needs and problems to Him AFTER we repent and believe. Why would He turn His back on someone who sincerely asks for the repentance and belief that makes other answers to prayer possible?

Many needs and desires go unfulfilled because God is never asked for them. Why not get on your knees, and in sincere request, ask God to give you what is needed most for you to inherit eternal life. ASK HIM to give you repentance and belief...

Then you can!

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it." - John 14:12-14
