Why are events in the nations of the world happening as they are? It seems that the world as we knew it has been turned upside down. Events seem to be out of control worldwide.

Is there something going on that the world in general does not see? Most details about world conditions are too complicated to be completely understood. However, the source of the condition of the world can be known and understood. There are only two major realities that we need to know in order for world events to be understood. World conditions are changing by the hour. Even by the minute. There are many who try desperately attempting to understand the reasons for what is happening. These realities are constantly affecting the lives of everyone on the planet.

Lets look behind the headlines of the news. We can understand.

Number 1 - There is a power working behind the scenes of every major human event in the world. It is revealed in your Bible: Jesus temptation, and Satan’s promises to Him. Notice:

“Again, the devil took Him up on a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory (the splendor, magnificence, preeminence, and excellence) of them. And he said to Him, These things, all taken together, I will give You, if You will prostrate Yourself before me and do homage and worship me.” (Matthew 4:8-9)

When Jesus replied, He did not call Satan a liar, but simple answered Satan by quoting a scripture. Satan invisibly influences the nations of the world, in an attempt to destroy mankind and the world.

Number 2 - The Holy Spirit’s working and influencing and limiting of Satan’s invisible power to influence individuals and nations, and the people in those nations, according to the will of the Father. The Holy Spirit has an assignment given to Him by Jesus after He returns to heaven. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to earth to influence world events and conditions until He returns. Notice:

“However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you]. And when He comes, He will convict and convince the world and bring demonstration to it about sin and about righteousness (uprightness of heart and right standing with God) and about judgment. About sin, because they do not believe in Me [trust in, rely on, and adhere to Me]; About righteousness (uprightness of heart and right standing with God), because I go to My Father, and you will see Me no longer; About judgment, because the ruler (evil genius, prince) of this world [Satan] is judged and condemned and sentence already is passed upon him.” - John 16:7-11.

Satan as the invisible ruler of this world has already been judged when Jesus returns to rule the earth for a thousand years, during which Satan will be constrained. (Revelation 20:1-4).

Until then, Satan influences decisions and events in a world that ignores God and Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit will allow events to go only so far before He intervenes in various ways to limit evil until Jesus returns.

At the same time, those who belong to Christ by faith in Him, the Holy Spirit lives in and guides and motivates. This being so, God considers our bodies to be temples in which the Holy Spirit dwells.

I pray this short explanation will help readers to understand better the “why” of many of the events around them, as well as world events in general. The spiritual unseen will eventually usher in deliverance from the evil events of our world when Jesus Christ returns. Until then, be comforted by the knowledge that although world conditions may disturb our peace, a wonderful world of peace and safety is coming.
