Who Are We?

Someone said upon observing a Christian, “God looks good on you…”!

Does God look good on you?

Not just our words others can hear, but everything about us. He should look good on us…without us saying a word.

Those we come in contact with us day to day will see us, hear us, and form opinions. If we claim to be Christians, they will see either Jesus Christ as formed in us, and if we are being changed, they will see more and more of Christ in us.They will progressively see Christ in us, and everything about us. If we have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, and we are submitting to his guidance and prompting's, there will be a glow there that others will see.

They may not express it to us, but down deep inside them, they will know there is something different - and often appealing - that they sense in us.

There is a story told about a preacher who just completed his sermon. About to sit down, having finished preaching his sermon, suddenly an elderly man who was sitting on the far back row of the congregation stood up and yelled to the preacher, “preacher what you are screams louder than what you say!”

Could we handle hearing what we are, as well as what we may say?

Could we have someone say honestly concerning us that we make God look good, as was once said by one person to another? Do we force our beliefs and opinions about salvation on others while we are not living our own words? Do we love them before we preach to them? Jesus did…

But what about those we do not see regularly? Depending on their frame of reference, they will still draw conclusions, even subconsciously. Their opinion of us - if they know we believe in Jesus Christ - may draw conclusions concerning us without a word spoken - by them or us.

These, I know, are hard questions. However, we all should ponder our words of witnessing, and measure ourselves before we measure others. In many words there is often sin.

As Jesus said, “Why do you look at the [insignificant] speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice and acknowledge the log that is in your own eye?” (Matthew 7:3)

If God looks good on you, your words need only to be few - regardless of the spiritual condition or beliefs of those who see you.

Upon hearing that I am a writer, a man whom I had just met stated “be careful with words…you can’t get them back”.

May we all as Christians live and conduct ourselves in a way that others are led to say that God looks good on us. May we be so clothed with the invisible essence of God and the Holy Spirit that our presence speaks louder than our words. May God always look good on us.

"But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” - Matthew 12:36-37
