Why Did Jesus Not Marry?
Date Posted: April 3, 2016

He could have…He was a human in every sense of the word, even is we are. If He had married, He would become an adulterer.

Why?

Man and woman in the flesh are given the blessing of marriage for several reasons. The primary one being the population of the earth, which includes all the blessings and lessons to be learned by a man and a woman duly and properly joint to each other.

By marriage the man and the woman become in a sense “one flesh”, but two spirits. The differences between the two definitions are the primary method God chose for each to grow up spiritually. This making of one flesh becomes the arena of experience in which each - if they are Christians - are molded into the image spiritually of Jesus.

All of this taken together and yet separate, the man and woman develop a new spiritual nature enabling them to live eternally with their spiritual spouse Jesus Christ. This is the reason marriage is so very foundational for those who choose to marry in the flesh.

Those Christians who do not marry for whatever reason, the Holy Spirit will develop the same molding as those who do marry. The Holy Spirit will develop the same molding and change in different experiences and circumstances.

Jesus was betrothed to the church that would be born as the result of His sacrifice. Because He was betrothed to another. he was already betrothed to the one whom He would marry in the future: The Church. He was also pure in every way.

So will His bride be pure and spotless in every way. It is truly amazing the references in the last three chapters of the book of Revelation to husband, wife, bride, etc. If there were nothing else in the Bible to stress the desirability for a human man and women to be morally clean and pure, this would be enough. Who will become the bride of Jesus Christ?…you and me and every born-again Christian.

Even now, we are all “engaged” and betrothed to Him. To celebrate our marriage to Christ, there will be a huge marriage celebration and banquet wherein all those who have remained engaged to Him since their marriage agreement, performed usually before witnesses affirming engagement to Him via baptism.

Yes, Jesus will finally marry. Are you preparing to become His bride?

There will even be a “marriage supper” to celebrate our marriage to Him. Only those who are worthy will be there. Some may attend, but will be asked to leave. They did not have the wedding garment on. It is not certain what this garment is, but it could be the result of burying their talent of spiritual ability which produced nothing (Matthew 25:24-30).

There is still time. May all who belong to Him do their best with whatever He has given them.

“But when the king came in to see the dinner guests, he saw a man there who was not dressed [appropriately] in wedding clothes, and he said, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without wearing the wedding clothes [that were provided for you]?’ And the man was speechless and without excuse. 13Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him into the darkness outside; in that place there will be weeping [over sorrow and pain] and grinding of teeth [over distress and anger].’ 14For many are called (invited, summoned), but few are chosen.” - Matthew 22:11-15
