'Christ in You...'

Without Honor
Date Posted: December 18, 2016

If you seem to be ignored, disrespected, or shunned since you have become a Christian by those who are older in the faith, you need not feel alone.

Many believers in Christ have experienced similar rejection down through the ages. Other's attitudes range from simply ignoring, to rejection and outright persecution. And this from those who are (or should be) your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Expecting others to rejoice with us over the faith that both share, the new Christian is looked upon with suspicion and doubt. Sometimes those who are closest to us genetically, or in other close circumstances or relationships seem not to believe that we have changed. Even when they can see that they have.

At times being a "babe in Christ" is taken not with joy over a soul saved from eternal death to eternal life, but with doubt, because the background the other has lived is difficult to forget.

For us to forget, as well as for them. We can know each too well. We know their past, and how wretched a life they lived. As the saying goes, their faith is hard to believe. Its just too much to swallow. We know them too well.

The baggage that the new Christian must carry until they experience more growth puts them in another class of Christian: One without honor in your own environment.

The old "new" Christian simply cannot be taken as the new person they are becoming inside. Familiarity subverts belief and respect. If this is happening to you, or someone you know, there is a measure of comfort realizing that there is another who understands:

" But after these two days Jesus went on from there into Galilee—Although He Himself declared that a prophet has no honor in his own country." - John 4:43-44

You may not be a "prophet", or have any other characteristics visible except what others can see, but Jesus understands. You too, may be "without honor" in your own family, workplace - even at the church you may attend. Human nature can be very suspicious and doubtful - especially if someone has known you a long time. Take heart. It was the same with Jesus, and He was and had always been perfect in all His ways.

Do not allow Satan to discourage you into thinking you did the wrong thing. God is simply giving you your first test of your faith.

But things will change.

Those who were doubtful and suspicion of you will soon realize how wrong they were. Although they may never make it know to you except by their increasing belief in the genies of you belief. They will change because you will change - more and more into the image of Christ.

If your fellow Christians truly belong to Christ, eventually you will all become less and less doubtful, both will grow more and more like your Savior. Doubts will fade, love and fellowship grow. You and others will become of one mind, united in Christ. More and more those around you will see your honor in Christ.

There is honor for all. Because all are in Christ. None in Him are ever without honor in Him.

Forever.

"Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition ]definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7If you seem to be ignored, disrespected, or shunned since you have become a Christian by those who are older in the faith, you need not feel alone.
