God's Words For US

A Path through Uncertainty

From time to time, I have times where I don’t know what I am supposed to do. As a believer in Christ, I have learned simply to seek His will for my life about that circumstance. Certain scriptures guide God’s children as they navigate through their days:

Proverbs 1:5-6 “let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance—for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise.”

King Solomon penned these words as part of the purpose and reason for his writing the pithy thoughts that comprise the book of Proverbs. Those who study this book will gain valuable insight into the art of living.

James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”

James, the earthly half-brother of Jesus, writes about people being confused about any issue in life and the way they can remedy the condition. They can ask God what they should do. This is excellent guidance for 21Century believers.

He gives us a reason we can ask our heavenly Father. God doesn’t say, “Well, I told you so!” He doesn’t make us listen as he points out our weaknesses and how we may have caused the circumstance that made us come to Him. He accepts us with open arms and whispers words of encouragement and hope into our ears. God does this because He loves us.

We communicate God’s love to others by following His leading when we are faced with our own issues or those of our families or friends. We rely on God as we work our way through the circumstances we are confronted with.

Bear with me for a while as I further explain this. In conversation, a friend confides something that is going on with an adult child. This circumstance affects grandchildren. There is a major complication involved in this issue. All our friend can do is pray and be there for her child and grandchildren.

Although it doesn’t look like it, we believe God is in control of this circumstance. We commit to pray for God to guide the friend’s child, whenever God brings him or her to our minds. We will have times when all we can do is pray. Either the issue is a friend’s or, if it is ours, it is too large for us to handle alone.

God takes care of our needs. We see a lot of needs in our world; we are faced with unrest and uncertainty. We have to remember He watches as events, good or bad, unfold. He desires us to give those events over to Him and ask for His hand to be on them.

Yes, I am saying the only pathto take through tough times is the path we walk with God by our side.

Blessings to you and yours,
