God's Words For US

God Guides Us Each Day
Date Posted: December 13, 2013

“This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 (NIV)

Each day is a gift from God. He designs every one specifically for us. Sometimes he allows circumstances into our lives that are not easy. At times, he brings us events that cause us to settle ourselves down to rest.

As I write this I am resting on our living room sofa. I am dealing with a sinus infection. Last week I was preparing for a Christmas play, practicing Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Dress Rehearsal was Thursday. Performances were Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon. I knew I was tired and had got to get some rest. Most of last week, I had a lack of good sleep. But God was in all of that. Yes, he was.

God looks out for us, His children. He finds ways to have us get what we need. We might not realize it until after it happens. We have times when we can’t understand why God does something that seems to hurt us. Maybe there is someone else involved who has a more serious need and God works for the best for that other person. God takes someone home and their family and friends don’t understand—to the point of being angry about what happened.

God answers our prayers by granting what is best for us. (Romans 8 :28) We don’t always think so but He does. When He tells us we have to wait, we don’t always understand. God works on us to make us into someone He can use to His glory. When our Father says “No” to our requests, He may have something better in mind for us. Whatever answer we receive from God, he always leads us through an issue to His solution, the best end. Although we might not think so, he has our best interest at heart.

Being down with a sinus infection is not how I would like to spend this week. I have to get out son’s Christmas package ready for the mail. I have shopping to do for an early Christmas present and a bridal shower gift. One of my closest friends had a birthday Tuesday. I realized I had something here for her. I had bought two of these items when I placed an order a few months ago. God was in my decision because, it seems, He knew I would be ultra-busy and then be ill. I have learned never to second guess Him.

How can I pray for you during this Advent season, for God’s guidance, for healing, for peace of mind? Feel free to contact me through the resource box (email author) to the right of this article.

Dear Father God;

Thank You for who you are, our Savior and King. Thank You for guiding us through the difficult days and weeks that come to us. Thank You for Your grace and for Your mercy. We give You all the praise. In the name of Jesus, we pray. AMEN
