God's Words For US

    by Cecelia Lester

God is Good!
Date Posted: January 1, 2016

I say these words believing them with my whole heart. I have been on a forced sabbatical. On September 20,2015, I chose to participate in a Cancer Walk-a-thon to benefit an 11-year-old girl at our church. (She went to heaven in early November.) I took a nasty fall. I severely broke my right ankle and dislocated my right foot.

I had to go to a nursing facility to receive therapy. I was there for three months. I came home three days before Christmas. While I was there, I received excellent care, for the most part. I made a few friends among the CNAs and the nurses. The aides work long hours doing what each patient needed to get back on the road to recovery. The therapists were outstanding. They helped me as I progressed. I saw Jesus in these medical field workers.

God was there, even when I had some bad days. For eight weeks, I was practically confined to bed due to my being unable to put any weight on that foot.

Just before this accident, I wrote a short Christmas play, thinking the drama ministry could use it for Christmas 2016. However, God had other plans. One of the men decided to direct it. He and the active drama people added music and two dramatic spots about how Christmas can be for some people. I was able to be with the cast at the dress rehearsal and attend the play. These two times fell on the weekend I was still in the nursing facility.

The following list comprises several ways God has been good to me during my detour of life.

  1. God heard my prayers.
  2. God brought some caring people into my life.
  3. God allowed my husband to support me while I recovered.
  4. God has allowed me to slowly get back to what I enjoy doing.
