God's Words For US
by Cecelia Lester
But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD
Genesis 6:8 (NKJV)
In my Lenten devotional reading, I read part of Hebrews chapter 11. My study Bible stated something that made me stop and think. The note was on Noah building the ark.
The sentence stated that without God’s grace, Noah could not have had the faith to create the ark.
“God’s grace, not Noah’s righteousness, saved him. He demonstrated faith by not allowing by not allowing the world’s corruption and opposition to carry him away and by boldly proclaiming God’s righteousness.(1)
God grants His unmerited favor on His children when He has them do something special for Him. Whenever His children run ahead of Him, they might fail. Likewise, when they fall behind Him, they will fail.
Sometimes, we, as His children, make the presumption that because we attend church, give our tithes, work in the church, and pray on a daily basis, we are all right in venturing forward with what we think God wants us to do.
We learn from God each day things that He wants us to learn and practice. Today, I learned that without God’s grace, we will have a more difficult time accomplishing things for God and for our families
I have learned this lesson in my spiritual life. In our prayers, we must pray for discernment and wisdom, seek Him in all we strive to do for God.
