God's Words For US

Is God Pleased?
Date Posted: November 17, 2017

As we hear of more and more instances of man’s atrocities to man, we begin to wonder what causes one person to bring harm to another.

As I read our local newspaper two days ago, I noticed the front page had stories that I found distressing. Earlier, in one of his columns, the editor of our paper stressed the fact that the editors try to find good news stories to place on the front page. Since then, I have watched and tried to note the good news stories. They are fewer and further between.

I wonder what God thinks when He looks down and sees people being killed simply because they were at the same event or scene of a person who decided to take things into his own hands, because they were angry with another person or with the “powers-that-be.”

What does our Creator think when he sees those whom He made and those who profess to belong to Him “winking” at the laws He gave us, rules to protect us and keep us safe?

I wonder, does his heart break every time someone chooses to terminate a life that is just beginning simply because that new life will make things “inconvenient” for that person? Does God become sad when we choose to watch television shows that glorify the enemy? What about those online sites people choose to watch late at night, when no one is around?

Whatever we see transpiring in today’s world, please remember that God is still on His throne. All the different scenes I described above are not activities that all people do.

What can we do to keep ourselves safe from these influences? We can pray for our world. Our nation, our state and our city. We can include our neighbors in our prayers. We can read our Bibles and seek God’s wisdom for our lives.

It is important that we strive to live as close to God as we can. Time is getting short and we don’t want to be unprepared for His return.
