Messiah-The Angel Gabriel's Visit
Date Posted: November 25, 2016

As we enter into the season of Advent, let us look to Jesus Christ, the Messiah. God sent an angel by the name of Gabriel to a small village called Nazareth. He entered into a simple home and spoke to the young girl who lived there.

He told her that God had chosen her to bear His son. At first, she was confused. The news caused concern for Mary. She had just become engaged to Joseph, the village carpenter. She would be treated differently by her neighbors and her friends. Her family would also receive this treatment and in turn show their disappointment. Joseph, according to the Law, could have her stoned.

Gabriel then told her that her cousin Elizabeth, who had been unable to bear a child, was, in fact, carrying a child. Mary’s response to hearing about her cousin was one of acceptance and praise. I love her response to Gabriel: Ï am the Lord’s servant. . . .May it be to me as you said.”(Luke 1:38, NIV)

As Christians, we love to hear the story of Jesus’s birth and see it acted out. God sent His son to us to teach us and to save us from our sins. When we mess up our lives, we have a Messiah to guide and direct us through our lives and take our sin away.

God did a great deed when He sent us His Son to earth to eventually shed His blood for our sins. Because of these unselfish acts, our heavenly Father made it possible for us to have a place reserved for us with Him in heaven when we pass away from this temporary earthly home.

Let us rejoice and be exceeding thankful for what the Messiah has done for us.
