God's Words For US
by Cecelia Lester
P eace I leave with you. My peace I give you; not as the world gives you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27 (NJKV)
Words of Jesus to His disciples during the Last Supper.
Jesus tells them and us some very memorable thoughts here. What constitutes Jesus’ peace?
We can have confidence and trust of Who He is and know that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are active and working and are in complete control. (1.)
We learn that Jesus’ peace does not involve any fear, (2.)
Only because of Jesus’ death, burial, resurrection, and ascension, and only because of them, true peace is possible. (3.)
When we think of peace, we envision a lake or a stream and grassy areas. We don’t think of storms, tornadoes, or hurricanes. Jesus tells us they will come into our lives (figuratively)but He will still be there for us. He will guide us through the hardships and difficulties that come our way.
“These things, I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (NJKV)
