God's Words For US

Have you ever felt weak as you face a huge task or a change in your life? When we face these things as believers, have we admitted to God we can’t do them by ourselves? We have scriptural evidence that God and the Holy Spirit will help us through.
The Apostle Paul spoke many times of weakness, his as well as other that of other people.
He shares with the believers in Corinth what the LORD said to Him. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
As human beings, we will face circumstances that will seem overwhelming. When we reach a certain age in life, we probably have been through several daunting times.
When we are weak we need to focus on Jesus, not on the source of what wears us down. We have to learn to do this; this is not something in our nature.
We have times when we don’t know how to pray about a circumstance. The Holy Spirit, who lives in the heart of every believer, will intercede for us when we have times we can’t pray.
Paul tells the believers at Rome, that we have a Helper when we feel weak, especially when we can’t pray. “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express” Romans 8:26
A bit later, Paul explains to the Corinthians
“For to be sure, he (Jesus) was crucified In weakness, yet he lives by God’s power. Yet by God’s power we will live with him to serve you.” (2 Corinthians 13:4) When we walk with the LORD we might not be physically strong but we can still serve Him. God takes our weakness and strengthens us in other ways in order for us to be used by Him however He chooses.
In the United Methodist Hymnal is a prayer that speaks to me. It carries the title of “A Covenant Prayer in the Wesleyan Tradition.”1Study the words carefully. Let the words and phrases speak to you.
“I am no longer my own, but thine.
Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
Let me be employed for thee or laid aside for thee, exalted for thee or laid aside for thee.
Let me be full, let me be empty.
Let me have all things, let me have nothing.
I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal.
And now, O glorious and blessed God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
Thou art mine, and I am thine. So be it.
And the covenant which I have made on earth,
Let it be ratified in heaven. Amen”
God has taught me a lot about myself through a recent time of physical weakness. He has also allowed me to feel His presence. I have learned it is not about me but about Him.
