God's Words For US

What Do Wear?
Date Posted: May 10, 2019

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

The Apostle Paul advises the Colossian believers to “put on” or wear as clothes qualities that model Jesus Christ.

COMPASSIONATE HEARTS- merciful attitudes

KINDNESS- going the second mile, gently responding to something done or said

HUMILITY- knowing who God is and who we are in relationship to Him

MEEKNESS- realizing we need God in our every deed

PATIENCE- forbearance, long-suffering

FORGIVENESS-because Jesus forgave us, we must forgive others.

When I found this passage several years ago, I was taken aback and realized that any forgiveness I extended to another person had to be rooted in Jesus’ forgiveness He extended to me.
