God's Words For US

“. . . I will fear no evil, for you are with me;” Psalm 23:4 (NIV) “‘And the name of the city from that time on will be: THE LORD IS THERE.’” Eze.48:35 (NIV) Her mother brought her into the building that housed the daycare center. Her parents were missionaries heading for home assignment in Michigan. They had attended the conference for a few days. On this, their last afternoon with us, she looked up at me as her mother signed her in. Her big brown eyes studied me. “Why are you always here?” “Why am I always here, is that what you asked?” She nodded. “Because, it’s my job.” She continued to look at me. “Because, I love Jesus.” She smiled and moved toward her mother. One afternoon at the beginning of the conference, one of the little boys broke out in tears. I went to his mother and asked what was wrong. None of the women who manned his classroom had been there that morning. I was the only one he recognized and not knowing anyone else upset him. When we learn about God we hear that He is always with us, no matter our need. What would our lives look like if we believed in a God who chose to be on the scene part-time? As I composed the last sentence, my phone rang. A church friend of mine had to share that another lady from church had been released from the hospital. On her release, the doctor informed her she had Cancer. We know God is there at work during times like this. Even when we mess up our lives, He still stays close, ready to wrap His arms of love around us and draw us closer to Him. I once heard a testimony from a man that spoke volumes to me. “God knows me inside and out, is aware of all the wrong things I ever did, and, yet he chose to save me.” Can we ask for anything better? Do we know anyone else who will love us that way? I had some medical testing done recently. At each visit, I had to produce my insurance information, my photo ID and then verify my address and birthday in order to prove who I was. When we go before God, all we have to do is call His name and tell Him that we love Him, although He already knows that. He is with us all the time; He knows us, cares for us, and provides for our needs. When we are awakened in the middle of the night, he may want us to talk to Him. He may want to talk to us. Even the best Christian receives sad news- ● an unwanted diagnosis for themselves or a loved one, ● the demise of a loved one, ● the loss of a job, ● the end of a marriage or a long-standing relationship. In each of these circumstances, God is present and working for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28) Sometimes, we have events happen that only God could allow. A factory worker was late to work one day and arrived to hear that a furnace next to his end of the production line blew up. God looked after him. The family who kept noticing their house lights blink from time to time. The husband found out the wiring that led into a conduit pipe against the house had rubbed the insulation away. Each time the wind blew; the wires would move and make contact with the edge of the conduit, causing the wires to arc. God protected their house and their family. God’s protection is precious to His children. A couple whose only son found work in a town 600 miles from their home relies on God’s protection for him as he goes through each day. The mother whose son has enlisted in the military prays for his protection every day. We all have times when we know God has been there with us. Let us remember to thank Him for them.
