Relationships of The Heart w/ Nancy
by Nancy Watta
We live in a noise filled world. Chatter is everywhere as we carry around our ipods, tablets, smart phones, then at home we may have a big screen t.v. , laptop and games. It seems everything is only a click away.
As Christians it is important that we find quiet time away from the chatter, away from the noise of our world. A time that we sit quietly and remember that in the midst of the noise of the world there is a God that is calling us to himself, calling us to spend time with him. Many times we do not hear his calling to us, because we are so busy running and moving and doing ministry. And when we do feel or hear the promptings of the Holy Spirit to sit and be still and cease from striving we refuse.
This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, Says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it. You said, “No , we will flee on horses.” Therefore you will flee! You said, “We will ride off on swift horses. Therefore your pursuers will be swift.! A thousand will flee at the threat of one; at the threat of five you will all flee away, till you are left like a flagstaff on a mountaintop, like a banner on a hill. Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you: he rises to show you compassion. For the LORD is God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him! Isaiah 30:15-18 New International Version of the bible.
Although we do not run off on swift horses, we run off in other directions. We make our choices and keep running here and there and everywhere. Then we grow tired and forget that the Lord tells us in Isaiah 30:15 , in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it. You said, no, we will flee on horses. Therefore we will flee!
In our life of daily choices, the best place to begin to find that quiet place, is to literally place the time in our schedules. Without intentionality, more than likely we will not make the time and we will continue to grow weary because we are placing our trust in other things. Once again, the reminder from Isaiah 30:15 , in quietness and trust is your strength.
End with a prayer; Lord, I ask you to touch the hearts of my friends as they hear my voice. Grab them with your Holy Spirit and don’t let them go until they place you before all else. Show them how to schedule time with you and submit to your Holy Spirit promptings.
