What are You Living For?
Date Posted: February 2, 2005

Have you ever watched a hamster or a mouse in a cage? Our youngest daughter, Kendra, used to have two dwarf hamsters ... Squiggles and Squirt. These active little rodents would often get into their tiny tread-wheel and run for hours on end. I wonder...do they realize that despite their great efforts - they are getting absolutely nowhere?

When you occasionally slow down from your hectic schedule filled with appointments, errands and chores...do you find yourself feeling like Squiggles and Squirt...always running, but never making any progress? In fact, life may be streaking past you as you struggle to keep up.

Why not take a quiet moment today and answer this question: WHAT AM I LIVNG FOR? Are you climbing the corporate ladder and chasing the dream to obtain more and more money? Are you in search of the perfect relationship? Or are you trying to gather enough energy just to make it through another day?

If you are unsure of what you are living for, or even if you feel that you have nothing to live for at all...then read the words of 2 Corinthians 5:14-15. In this brief passage, Paul tells the believers in Corinth that "Christ died for everyone so that those who receive His new life will no longer live to please themselves. Instead, they will live to please Christ, who died and was raised for them."

As followers of Christ, we should be living for HIM - in honor of His incredible sacrifice; in respect of His ways; and in obedience to His Great Commission - to pass along the message of hope and eternal life available only through Him.

What are are you living for? Who are you livng for? Are you living for Christ?

"Living for Jesus, a life that is true;
Stiving to please Him in all that I do;
Yielding allegiance - glad-hearted and free;
This is the pathway of blessing for me.

"'Christ in You...'" from Dale Krebbs
