Word from Nairnshire

Length is not necessary to be profound. Psalm 93 is quite short, but reassuring truths are taught in a few sentences; truths of which we need frequent reminding, particularly in these shaky times. The Lord reigns. Our God reigns and He is robed in majesty.

The prophets Isaiah and Ezekiel had similar visions of God, as had John, the youngest of the twelve disciples, and he describes what he saw in the book of Revelation.

Whatever opposition might arise in the world, God’s throne is unmoved and unmoveable.

Whatever turmoil, upheaval and rebellion might explode across the world, Jesus Christ, the risen and ascended king, hears the cries of His people, no matter what angry waves are pounding and roaring.

When we are disappointed, down, despondent, desperate, or feeling almost defeated, it is comforting and consoling to know that God reigns.

It is a good Psalm to sing, because the words are true, but to believe them at all times can be a very different matter and quite difficult, especially when we cannot see the way ahead clearly, or wonder what lies in front of us.

Everyone is saying that 2009 is going to be a hard year, and that may be true. All the more need to stand on the rock to be safe and secure, and kept from sinking or drowning.

It may not be easy, but then God never told anyone that life would be easy.

He, who is king of the past, and king of the present, can be trusted totally for the future.

Amidst all the chaos Christ is consistent and constant.

When God dispatched an angel to reassure Joseph, Joseph became aware of what was happening in Mary.

He was able to stand strong. He continued to worship.
