Word from Nairnshire

Passover
Date Posted: July 1, 2008

It is Passover, when we recall how two million Hebrew slaves were set free from bondage in Egypt.

Our gracious God speaks to Moses and gives him a word.

There will be no loss of life when God’s Word is obeyed.

Moses is commanded to instruct the people of God to take a wholesome spotless unblemished male lamb. Offer only the finest to God. Kill it and sprinkle its blood on the doorposts, and eat its flesh.

God is showing His people how they can be saved, and safe. There is only one effective remedy.

The only one place of safety is in the blood of the lamb. Why the blood of the ram marking the doorposts?

That night the Lord God was going to pass through the land of Egypt. When He saw the blood of the lamb on the doors He would know there had already been a death in that house, and He would pass over it, and no human life would be taken in that family circle.

The Lord God would see and know, that those who lived in that house had heard His Word, and that they had taken it seriously and obeyed it, and that they had applied.

Hear His Word. Take it seriously. Obey it. Apply it.

In every other house in the land a boy was dying, but in the houses of the People of God the blood of the lamb saved them from death.

This was such a significant night that they were told to change their calendar. It was as if they were beginning to measure time all over again.

1,300 years later, another Lamb came into the world, born in Bethlehem, and again the calendar was changed. Are you B.C. or A.D.?
