You cannot turn the clock back no matter how much you may wish to!

These disciples of Jesus tried to turn the clock back, even after having met the risen Christ.

Can it be possible to have met Jesus Christ and yet face potential disaster?

Have you ever thought of giving up? Ach, I am fed up with this whole ‘church’ thing?

Peter feels the pull of old habits and returns to the fishing, taking six disciples with him.

Leaders lead for good or ill.

Had this meeting Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, been all a dream? Are they suffering from shock as they try to return to their former ways? The world of boats and nets and fish appear familiar and more secure.

Having been out fishing all night they caught nothing.

Now, fishing had been something they had been good at, and they would have felt confident on that Galilean Lake, but, in their nets was nothing!

They are fruitless and frustrated.

Reasons that sound good are not always good sound reasons.

As dawn comes, there is a mist on the Lake, and they see a figure on the shore. It was Jesus, but they were unaware of that.

“Lads, have you caught anything?” Jesus knew there was nothing in the boat.

The voice tells them to cast their nets on the other side of the boat and immediately they catch 153 fish.

When they obey the ‘Stranger on the shore’ there are positive results.

John tells Peter that the Stranger is Jesus.

The presence of Jesus brings them from the darkness of failure and frustration to the dawn of fruitfulness.

It is a hard journey to make, and not an easy lesson to learn.

Never let Jesus remain a ‘stranger’.
