Jeremiah Chapters 8 and 9. We come to the Word of God - always - in the Name of Jesus Christ - expecting Jesus to speak to us through this Word and expecting the Holy Spirit to minister to us, in some way.
No wonder Jeremiah was unpopular. A man who preaches and proclaims and prophecies and speaks

We come to Jeremiah Chapter 5. This preaching of Jeremiah - these messages - these addresses - are so relevant to our nation today. We see that again in the verses we are reading.
Remember the situation in which Jeremiah was prophesying - and to whom - the nation of Israel. There are two remarkable

We are reading the prophetic preaching of a young man – Jeremiah – the early preaching of this young man - preaching to a people who really didn’t want to hear - to people who did not want to listen nor pay any attention. GOD was speaking and they were not interested. Jeremiah was chosen, called, and

As we read Jeremiah Chapters 2 and 3 - the whole Hebrew nation is in view. Prophets tend to ignore the divided kingdom. They speak to the whole people of God. There had been a degree of prosperity and then there crept in the rot of compromise and complacency.
There were too many other things to

We move into Jeremiah Chapter 2 – and from verse 1 right down to Chapter 3 verse 5, we have one of his sermons - one of his messages, or addresses.
We are reading of a young man - in his teens - preaching for the first time - not in the Temple, but in the streets of Jerusalem - to very unsympathetic

Jeremiah the prophet - like every true prophet - spoke from God and spoke for God - and his words came true. This is what marks him out as a true prophet.
Deuteronomy 18 verse 22. The mark of a true prophet - and the mark of a false prophet. Beware of the man who says something is going to happen

Why did Almighty God choose this teenager? God saw something in Jeremiah - and God knew He could put more into him. Jeremiah means - GOD HURLS - God throws - God fights - and soon Jeremiah would be throwing God’s Word at the world - hurling heaven’s message across Jerusalem - fighting the depths of sin into

Jeremiah is one of the prophets raised up by our Loving God in Israel at a time when the situation was serious and critical - the nation was facing a crisis - the nation was facing the Judgement of God. Open your Bible at Jeremiah Chapter 1.
Who is he? Who is this man? Where did he come from?

It is seldom easy to leave a book and no more so than Paul’s letter to the Romans. Here is a brief summary or overview.
The first four Chapters are concerned with Faith - then Chapters 5 to 8 deal with Hope - then Chapters 9,10 and 11, the place of Jews and Gentiles in the economy of God - then Love in 12 –

In Romans Chapters 16 we have been reading about people - we have this list of names of people - and how Paul appreciated people who had served Jesus Christ - how he noticed what they had done - and sometimes the degree of intensity and hardship and suffering which their faithfulness had brought upon them.

Remembering names can sometimes be a very hard thing. If you pray for people, that will help you remember their name. Some people pray for those they have met during the day - and they remember their names more easily.

We come to Romans Chapter 16. Consider what Paul has been writing about in these Chapters - the centralities of The Christian Faith - Israel and the place of Israel in the plan of God - the importance of presenting your body - and being totally committed to Jesus Christ - how we can know the Will of God

There are times when it is not only what you can do - but what you can bear. Who can you lift up? Who can you support? Paul was an apostle - apostles are not people above us lording it over us - but under us supporting us - like the foundation of a wall.
We are in Romans Chapter 15 at verse 4.

We return to the Roman letter. We are in Romans Chapter 14 – where we left off some months ago – such an appropriate timely passage - because we need to see clearly that ‘religion’ is a terrible thing – ‘religion’ which demands its rights - its legal rights.

Turn to John Chapter 21. This is a lesson I have had to learn again over these past months. You cannot turn the clock back, but sometimes even disciples of Jesus Christ try to turn the clock back – or just want to turn the clock back.
Did these disciples of Jesus yearn to turn the clock back
