In What Ways Does the Holy Spirit Guide?
Date Posted: July 15, 2024

The Holy Spirit reveals the meaning of what GOD has said in the written word – the Bible.

1Corinthians 2verse 14 – “The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

I need the Holy Spirit to understand the Bible. He is the Author of this book, and He gives us a live and living commentary too. John 15 verse 26 - "The Helper will come – the Spirit, who reveals the truth . . .”

He reminds me of what JESUS said. He reminds us of TRUTH – a commodity that is becoming more and more scarce in society.

John 14verse 26 – “The Helper will teach you everything and will CAUSE YOU TO REMEMBER all that I told you. This Helper is the Holy Spirit . . .” The more BIBLE you put into your mind the more He has to remind you of!

How did the disciples remember all that Jesus taught and said?

2Peter 1verse 20 – The Holy Spirit directed them and reminded them.

He reminds us by giving us nudges and confirmations – learn these lessons from Simeon in Luke Chapter 2 .

Romans 8 verse 16 “- God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are.” Every time you have that nudge or impression to do something good or positive – do it. That can be the Holy Spirit.

How can we be helped in this area?

Steps to being led – Pause and be quiet. Isaiah 30 verse 15 – “In quietness and confidence will be your strength.”

Humbly ask the Holy Spirit to be with you and guide you.

Psalm 25 verse 9 – “God guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.”

Psalm 27 verse 11 – Teach me, Lord, what you want me to do, and lead me down the right path.”

Be willing to do what HE says before HE tells you! John 7 verse 17 – “Whoever is willing to do what God wants and chooses it will know if what I teach comes from God.” You must want to be led – you must desire God to guide you.

Look to God’s Word – Psalm 119 verse 105 – “Your Word is a lamp to guide me, and a light for my path.” Psalm 119 verse 133 – “Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by any evil.”

Expect His guidance in faith – James 1verses 5,6 – “If you want to know what God really wants you to do, ask Him, and He will gladly tell you, for He is always ready to give a bountiful supply of wisdom to all who ask Him; but . . . be sure that you really expect Him to tell you . . . If you don’t ask in faith, don’t expect the Lord to give you any solid answer.”

Wait for God’s response – Job 33verse 14 – “God does speak – sometimes one way and sometimes another – even though people may not understand it.”

Psalm 107 – Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good – He redeems us – He rescues us – He gathers us together –

Verse 4 – Some wandered – they were in need – then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble – He led them

Verse 9 He satisfies – He fills

Verse 10 – Another group experiencing serious problems – suffering – rebelling – despising – but they too cried out.

Verse 17 – Some became fools – they too cried out – and He rescued them.

Verse 20 – He sent forth His word and healed them.

How to be led – sometimes we can forget all the steps – and we just have to cry out for help – and guidance – trusting Him to hear us and lead us. As early as you can in life, make friends with the Holy Spirit.

“Lord God – Loving Father – help us to take in something of the many various ways in which You lead us – Gracious God, there are so many paths provided for our help and guidance. Thank You for the ways in which you have led Your people over the years – we thank You for individuals who have helped and ministered to us over past days and weeks – teach us and train us that we might be able to minister to others – to those in need – to those in darkness, in need of the light of Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen.”
