Essential Equipment for Ministry in the Church
Date Posted: April 18, 2005

We read in Acts 14:8 that following the uproar in Iconium, Paul and Barnabas moved on to Lystra. No matter how arduous the ministry was, they never considered giving up. There was no 'burn out' with these apostles. They were soaked and saturated in the anointing power of the Holy Spirit. Now if there is 'a secret' that is it.

As you go through these studies, let me ask you - are you soaked and saturated with the anointing power of the Holy Spirit? It was 36 years ago that I experienced the risen and living Jesus baptising me in the Holy Spirit and I want to testify that it lasts. This is not some emotional temporary experience, but part of our being equipped for ministry in the church of Jesus Christ.

I mention and emphasise this here because I do not know how I would have survived without receiving what Jesus teaches that each of us so needs. If you are going through a difficult phase then check that you have what God says you require. That may need a return to reading part of the Gospels and the opening Chapters of the book of Acts, but returning to these scriptures may reap an amazing reward and blessing, and rescue you from depression and defeat.

Here is Paul preaching in Lystra. As he preaches there is a man sitting there listening. He is a cripple, who has never walked.

Paul looked at him directly. As Paul preached, he saw that this man had faith to be healed. Faith comes through hearing The Word of God, and that is why to have faith, we need to hear The Word of God.

Tell me - how are you getting on? Be very honest - how are you? We have now completed over 80 studies in the Book of Acts - and I need to know how you are finding these! Are they helpful? Are they building you up? Are they encouraging you?

Have you received all that God says we need to receive for ministry and leadership? And - are you reading part of The Word of God every day?
