Two Personal Remarks
Date Posted: August 29, 2005

As we read on in Acts 16:9,10 let me just remark that this is Study 100 which I have prepared on the book of ACTS. The missionary team sail from Troas - just beside Troy - over to Europe - and they make for Philippi - the main city of that part of Greece. Philippi had a strong Roman colony, and there was also a famous medical school, which gives rise to the question - "Was this where Luke did his medical training?"

Permit me one further personal remark. Many years ago when I was only eight years old, God called me to serve Him. The following Sunday at Sunday School we were given stickers with pictures and texts to place in our little attendance book, and I clearly recall that Acts 16:9 was the verse with a picture of Paul in Troas. A few years ago I was on a Leaders Tour entitled "In the Footsteps of Paul" and one of the most significant and intimate moments for me was to stand on that beach at Troas and give thanks to God for His Grace and Goodness to me over the past 45 years. This was where beloved Paul had set out for Europe. This geographical location was an important milestone in my personal and spiritual life.

If God has spoken to you in a specific place at a specific time, I would ask you today to take a few minutes to give thanks and praise to our loving Saviour and to recommit your life in the service of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul, who is leading this missionary team over into Europe never ever forgot that day when the risen living Jesus confronted him outside Damascus. It is good to remember and give thanks. Take time and make time to do so.
