Bible and Quote - March 3-7
'Bible verse and quote' from Jan Couns
He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. Psalm 91:4 Faith is fear transformed by the act of our own will, calling to mind mighty God, and betaking ourselves thereto. Alexander Maclaren, 1826-1910, British Baptist expository preacher
You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day. Psalm 91:5
God does not take away from us those natural fears which lead us to seek the preservation of life, but He masters them by a serene security of heart produced by His Presence.…

Courage
'God's Words For US' from Cecelia Lester
Courage
“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage,
and he shall strengthen thine heart:
wait, I say, on the LORD.”
Psalm 27:14(KJV)
I found the above scripture in a Bible Promise Book for Women. It makes me slow down and think about its message.
David tells his readers, then and now, to ‘wait on the LORD.’ He wants those readers to fully understand it because he says it two times in twenty words.
How many times have I run ahead of the Lord? If I were to have instant replay of my life events, I would see several times I forged…

The Mantle
'Chip Shots from the Ruff of Life' from Tom Kelley
A number of years ago I quit watching the National Basketball Association. I quit for a several reasons. I felt the quality of play was declining. There were too many dunks and way too many jump shot contests. A friend of mine took umbrage with that and said it was exciting. I countered with the fact that, for a person to get free for a dunk in a half court offense, someone had to blow a defensive coverage. Same with a lot of open jump shots.
Evidently I am not alone. "This is the worst basketball being played since I can remember, and it's not becacuse I'm an old guy."…

Inerrancy in History
''Winging It' from Stan Smith
It is argued that the entire "inerrancy of Scripture" thing is a fabrication, a new thing. (Oddly enough, most of those who make this argument are fully invested in new things and happy to embrace them if they coincide with what they want to believe. Apparently, it is only when a belief opposes their preferences can a perceived "new thing" be considered bad.) But is it true? Is this a new thing?
Iranaeus (130-202 A.D.) believed in divine inspiration and argued that not a single detail, word, or letter could be considered insignificant. Clement of Rome (150-250…

A Fish in the Hand
'The Way' from Kevin Pauley
Stay away from the love of money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
A small fish caught in a net said to the fisherman, “I am too little to be a good meal. Even if you boil me or roast me – I won’t be enough to truly satisfy your hunger for long. Let me go and keep growing. I promise to return to you two years from now. You will find me in this same spot, large and seven times as fat. If you wait till then to eat me, it will be like a great feast in your house, and…

No Harm, No Foul (12-17-10)
'Today's Little Lift' from Jim Bullington
Actually the phrase No Harm, No Foul is an American idiom arising from the sport of basketball. Generally speaking, it means that unless the outcome of a game is affected, a violation of the rules should not result in a foul being called. Recently this phrase came to mind when Pat told me of an event that occurred with one of her neighbors a few years back.
It seems that she had admired a small decorated Christmas tree in her neighbor's basement window for years. It always looked so neat and orderly behind the white sheer curtains that hung between it and the window. Each year…

Fear and Worry Jesus Christ Cures Our Fears and Worries
'Word from Scotland' from Sandy Shaw
Religious sham and playful acting is futile in the eyes of Jesus - and Jesus speaks about hypocrisy as being like yeast - it acts like yeast. We are in Luke Chapter 12.
You need only a little yeast to affect a lot.
Yeast spreads very quickly.
Yeast works invisibly and silently and secretly - it works in……

Ghosts? Glorified bodies? Physical bodies?
'Refreshment in Refuge' from Gina Burgess
Were the OT saints that came out of their graves after Jesus died on the cross and after He rose from the dead in glorified bodies or were they visible spirit bodies ... ghosts? Look at Matthew 27:51-53
Matthew 27:51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, 52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
If they were spirits, or “ghosts”…

Treason
'Voice of Inspiration' from Andy Castro
"If this be treason, make the most of it."
Treason: Violation of allegiance toward one's country or sovereign, especially the betrayal of one's country by waging war against it or by consciously and purposely acting to aid its enemies.
It was His willful act and purposeful violation to wage war against the sovereign religious force on the earth. The religious powers had to be taken down for the freedom for those freedoms were chained to the grave by the mindset and ideology of the religious elite. It was given them the laws of God in times past but through coaxing…

Time And Chance
''Christ in You...'' from Dale Krebbs
God began to love you before the foundation of the world, along with His Only-begotten Son at that time, before anything was. If you believe in Him, He knew in eternity past. If you belong to Christ now, He knew you before anything was - except the Father and His Son. This being true, there is nothing that can destroy what God through Jesus is doing in you. The world of those outside of Jesus Christ are subject to the vagaries and random chances working in this world, But if you belong to Christ, life may only seem to be no different from those of the world who are outside the…

The Concept of Time
'Inspiration For You' from Randy Mitchell
No matter how much money, education, or influence we have the one thing none of us can ever produce more of is, time. How we make use of this invisible asset determines how successful we are both, professionally and personally.
God gave us all a pre-determined life clock that constantly ticks 24 hours a day. They’re moments that cannot be duplicated, manipulated, controlled or bought. And once they pass, they pass, with no recourse at all. Time can be selfish, move to slow or fast, can eat up our youth within a blink of an eye, or linger while refusing to budge. In reality,…
The mind can play terrible tricks on us. Hallucinations can seem as real as the world around us. Fantasies can overwhelm us to the point that real relationships mean little or nothing to us. Obesessions are also a trick of the mind and can be just as frustrating and deadly as the other things I have already mentioned. Consider the odd life of one Arnold Schoenberg, the famed Austrian composer.Schoenberg was born on September 13, 1874. As he grew older…
Daily Refractions
Words to Ponder
Saving faith consists of the complete surrender of my whole being to the claims of God upon me. - Arthur Pink (1886-1952)

Bible-in-a-Year — NAS
1 Samuel 4-5; Psalms 52; Acts 28:1-16:
Then the Philistines drew up in battle formation to meet Israel. When the battle spread, Israel was defeated by the Philistines, who killed about four thousand men on the battlefield. When the people came into the camp, the elders of Israel said, "Why has the LORD defeated us today before the Philistines? Let's take the ark of the covenant of the LORD from Shiloh, so that He may come among us and save us from the power of our enemies." So the people sent men…
