'Christ in You...'

A Famine Of The Gospel
Date Posted: March 20, 2016

There is a prophecy recorded in the book of Amos which seems to indicate a universal gospel "famine" in the world.

A time when the Christian Gospel message will no longer be available. Perhaps not even allowed by the powers in the world at that time.

Prophetic occurrences are sometimes tucked away within other events and conditions that were extant when the writer wrote, that are dual in meaning, and predict an occurrence or condition in the world many centuries later. Some of these are for the end times - world conditions not long before the return of Christ.

These verses seem to indicate a universal occurrence, not just for Old Testament times - the times in which it was written by Amos:

"Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it." (Amos 8:11-2)

Due to world conditions, slowly but surely, access to the word of God may be banned - either made illegal, or not accessible, and perhaps enforced through stronger measures - a time when hearing, and even seeing the word of God may not be available. It will be almost completely snuffed out, or restrained.

This will incrementally occur, because of many and varied conditions operating in the world - a famine of many things of universal and worldwide proportions, caused by various events or enforced by various means:

"And when you hear of wars and insurrections (disturbances, disorder, and confusion), do not become alarmed and panic-stricken and terrified; for all this must take place first, but the end will not [come] immediately. Then He told them, Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be mighty and violent earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences (plagues: malignant and contagious or infectious epidemic diseases which are deadly and devastating); and there will be sights of terror and great signs from heaven." - Luke 21:9-11

Many of these events have always occured to varying degrees. But one must realize that the progression increases as they get closer. Since they increase slowly, they will be attributed to natural disasters, climate change, and various other "natural" causes. Some of these events may be blamed on Christians.

Eventually the world will need a scapegoat.

"But previous to all this, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, turning you over to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be led away before kings and governors for My name’s sake.
This will be a time (an opportunity) for you to bear testimony." - Luke 21:12-13

When these events begin to occur and intensify, Jesus tells us not to be troubled - but they must come to pass.

"Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid"- John 14:27

But being forewarned is being spiritually forearmed .
