Compromise And Stair Steps
Date Posted: March 13, 2016

Many in our world have sought for, worked and sacraficed for, a "lasting peace" for hundreds of years. Thus far it has eludeded them.

Compromise has always been a strategy in world conflicts, although sometimes just an option if all else fails. The bottom line finally becomes just the best deal you can get, not what the peacemakers would like.

Diplomacy assumes a give and take approach to world affairs and crisis. For nations, it is forced by war or national interests, and in this age, possible world destruction. However, one war, one completed international agreement stair steps to another sooner or later.. Compromise almost always leaves the door open for the same situation to appear again…and again…and again.

Framers of the American Constitution assumed a moral base would always exist. However, one document, no matter seemingly complete enough, or flexible enough, cannot be structured to address issues for all time. Human nature has too many variables - actually, endless variables. It depended upon the Christian base to provide stability They assumed this world would remain the same, or at least within an managable context, for all people. However, it is virtually impossible to legislate all the variables in any nation.

The hope is that the failures of temporary agreements will be farther and farther apart. Compromise is a strategy of nations and individuals. Usually, something that is agreed upon between nations and individuals simply creates a new position to be negotiated again at a later time or era.

Can there ever be a one-time agreement to settle all issues permanently?

No…and Yes.

Not as long as there is human nature. Even with honest intentions, human nature is shackled by “stair step” philosophy - events toward solutions take one step forward, then sometime somewhere, events toward peace and stability take two steps backward. As this continues, eventually there must an ultimate crisis “at the close”. Only the return of Jesus Christ can prevent the final stair step to the destruction of mankind. The Bible book of Revelation reveals the story with many dramatic details. The world will not voluntarily agree to and keep a permanent agreement capable of producing world peace.

Yes, there will be a onetime agreement that will settle all issues regarding nations, races, and the world However it will not be voluntary. The world will not voluntarily accept a government that does not provide for comprise and stair step governmental philosophy. Consequently, this world will not know real peace until pressed upon it by an authority that is perfect and perfectly just.

No more compromises. No more broken treaties. No more assinations and atrocities. No more stair step diplomacy. There is no more need for compromises or stair steps in hope of faithfulness of the parties.

Only eternal peace, fairness, justice, and love.

Until then, as a government official remarked during one of so many world crisis, “only God can save America now…but I’m willing to try“. Many attempts for a final stair step will undoubtedly come and go before Christ returns. However, He, and only He, can save the world from complete and utter destruction.

“Then I heard [the distinct words of] a voice from heaven, saying, “Write, ‘Blessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired) are the dead who die in the Lord from now on!’” Yes, [blessed indeed],” says the Spirit, “so that they may rest and have relief from their labors, for their deeds do follow them.” Behold, I am coming soon, and I shall bring My wages and rewards with Me, to repay and render to each one just what his own actions and his own work merit. He {Jesus} Who gives this warning and affirms and testifies to these things says, Yes (it is true). [Surely] I am coming quickly (swiftly, speedily). Amen (so let it be)! Yes, come, Lord Jesus!” - Revelation 14:13,22:12,21-20.
